I Want To Build This Smoker

Anyone know of a place that has food-grade 55 gallon drums? I have a couple that had motor oil in them but that won’t be good for this idea.
Thanks.

odd, I was just looking at the plans to build one of these as well.

There’s usually some 55 gal drums on CL.

I think 95dime may have some input on where to get drums. He told me where, but I can’t for the life of me remember.

I might be able to get you a 55 gal food grade drum. I will check when i go back to work.

If you burn a wicked hot fire in it for 12 hours they are able to be used. But then again they are cheap enough anyway…

Barrels are $99 new from northern something or other.

Thats the same pic I posted in Fry’s thread…

Thanks all.

awesome, i think id like a more stable base for mine though.

I have used hydraulic drums before. Believe me, if you set fire to what residue is left and then feed the fire gently with a leaf blower (not too much or you will warp it all to shit) I can promise you that when your done, you will have nothing but beautiful clean paint free steel. Food grade is not needed. Plus, all food grade drums have plastic inside them to protect the metal from the acids in food. So that has to be removed in much the same way. They all gotta get killed with some good fire.

Food grade? Pussy.
