Penfold:
You use a long shutter speed. I have a wireless remote for my camera and I just set the camera to ‘bulb’ for shutter speed. That allows me to click the remote and the shutter opens when the firework starts and then click it again and the shutter closes when the firework ends.
I was ranging between 2 and 16 second shutter speeds at iso 100 and f/20-22

Thanks, it was my first attempt. I spent the night before reading up on shooting fireworks.

Canon Rebel xti and 50mm f/1.8 lens.
but if your looking for a good point and shoot, I would recommend the Canon S5 IS.

ok so i looked for th canon s5IS and everyone was sold out…So I figure I go with a dslr lol…I picked up a Olympus Evolt E420, with a 18-45 and a 55-150 lense…I might be off on the numbers a little, but so far this camera has taken some nice pics.
