I will never understand why people think it is cool to have a fast civic…for the $ there are much cooler/better cars to build. I think it is the “I beat you with a civic/pile of shit that is not supposed fast” mentality…which is pretty gay
We can debate FWD versus RWD versus AWD all day, but basically…
- start with a light Civic shell
- GSR swap doubles output of stock (or more depending on model)
- some extra small parts to make it start and run.
Weight to horsepower ratio minimized means more fun. It takes half the HP in a 2000 lb car compared to a 4000 lb car to get the same weight to HP ratio.
For less money you can make a lighter car go faster? (because more HP -> more money)
IOW, 500 HP in a 2000 lb car is > than 500 HP in 4000 lb car.

Civics make great street cars. I have found that with honda parts being readily available new and used for cheap makes a build much easier. If I could afford to build up a SS LS1 I prob would but still wouldn’t DD it b/c parts/gas/RWD isn’t practical. Plus the look on a SS owners face when a turd civic beats them is priceless. I would say that there are SO MANY factors on what you are building this thread could go on indefinitely. Again, a car is what it is, and there is a reason for what it is.
EDIT: BTW Faster is faster. If you don’t like a car for what it is then build yours faster and don’t bitch b/c a civic beat you and its a turd.

You make good points and most are valid. But I have always liked cars built for performance and not economy. That is why I wonder why people make econoboxes fast…but to each his own.
As for the statement that I bolded…yeah there are dudes that are stunned but most people know pretty much anything can be fast. I personally could give two shits less if some econobox with motor work beat me…In the end everyone does what they enjoy and if some people like making a turdmobile fast and getting a boner when they smoke a car that is faster stock for stock then cool…everyone is different. I prefer cars built for perfomance not economy.

S2000 is a decent ride…they were built with performance in mind and i like them a little. I am a very simple person…dont take me for some douchbag…If I do not like a car and think it is total assturds then I could could care less if it is fast. But everyone has their own thing…some like to build up turds and then say “Ohh shit you got smoked by a econobox” To me that isnt the coolest thing to do. Pretty simple concept. Yes I am a domestic guy but I do like imports…most are ones that are built with performance in mind. I would love to have a mildly modded G35 for a DD.
