I have a late model red top with the black top style head with the casting marks on the font of it. I purchased it with the intention of putting it in my '89 but ended up buying my s14 in Nov. and I am now selling the '89 and I won’t put this motor in my s14. I am kinda anal about parts matching the car so I am going to buy a blacktop s14 motor. The motor is in awesome shape, the valve train is spotless, the oil was clean and a light clear color. Spark plugs all look good. I have a turbo xs boost controller that goes with it. It’s the usual package with motor, trans, ecu, and a full wiring harness with ignitor. I pulled the manifolds and all brackets and accessories off to check the condition of the motor so I can get pics of anything you want to see. i’m pretty sure the blacktop s13 sr20det is the only one with casting marks on the front of the block. either way this is a good deal, i’m just poor paying for my paint job and owing 2000 in taxes. i got f’d in the ass by the good old govnmt
That’s what I thought too but after ALOT of searching I found out that their was indeed a late model redtop with the same marks. So I would assume this is probably one of the newest redtops you will find.
maybe someone just threw a red top valve cover on it because they had a red car or something like that.

The hatch has a cracked head right now but for the price of a ka24e I think I would be better off financially to put another ka in and sell it as a good running car rather than take money away from myself by selling a car that doesn’t run great right now. I had planned on swapping the motor myself and selling it later when it is all fixed, HOWEVER, strange things happen when money is thrown on the table so you never know. Depends on the price I guess.

Is it all back together? new gakset i hope. any pics of the oil pan? I’m probably going to calgary next week. Is it possible to come and take an more indepth look?
It sits as you see it right now. I was going to put it back together but I figured if someone wanted to buy it they would like to see as much as possible before purchasing it and may have plans to tear it down further or replace all gaskets. Basically, I left it at a spot where it would be a very quick job to put it back together or rip it down depending on individual plans. If you want it put back together I could do that too but I just wanted whoever looks at it to be able to see everything so there is nothing unexpected and you know exactly what you are getting. I’ll get some pics of the pan in a while for you. The motor is at my work in Red Deer and I am there 8-5 mon to fri. If you wanted to come on the weekend I will gladly meet you there as well. RS13 here are your pics of the oil pan. The only dent is one tiny one the size of a dime on the front corner that you can barely see in the second pic. There was some oil that ran out when I tipped it on the engine stand so I figured I might as well take a pic of that as well so you could see how clean it was. Let me know if there is anything else you want to know.
