for the consult is it the early nissan version design for pre 95 or does it have both adapters? Also what port is required to hook it up to a laptop (usb, serial, etc)?

its the USB model, works on OBD1 and OBD2 I believe. Works great and plugs into any device with any downloadable, free, or bought tuning and reading software!
