mazda speed 3

well who cares? this car makes 263 horsepower right out of the box , and why does the DI limit tunability and everything? simple bolt ons such as intake , exhaust(full), plugs , wires , bigger turbo , and everything like that will still improve Hp a great deal…idk…i just dont quite understand the big deal about DI being bad

Looks good, but those don’t look like HID’s…thats disappointing.

Typical port injection engines run a fuel pressure of around 40 - 70psi. This car is supposed to be injected at over 1600psi. Like Rob said, in order to increase fueling, you need to engineer an injector to perform properly in that environment. Bolting on a bigger turbo means more airflow which requires more fuel which a set stock injectors generally can’t provide. Direct Injection isn’t a bad thing, but it’s not like port injection where you can just put a larger set of injectors in and tune fueling.

Pics look awesome

I wanna dip my balls in it.

This is the base model, HIDs are standard with the GT edition.

that is 1 4cylinder i would be prowd to have in my driveway

ahhh i see i see… 1600 psi? you do mean 16 psi right? that still alot of boost , more than most motors can even handle

1600 psi is correct. Thats the fuel line pressure. It must inject against the compression of the motor since the injector is in the cylnder head.

Mazda ECU’s are also a bitch to crack. To this day nobody has cracked the RX8 ecu.

have u tried a sledgehammer?

i’m jelous :frowning:

i wish i would have not gotten the STI and held on to my pro5 untill these came out

wagons are pimp!

one question though, how is the air fed to the intercooler? is it just from the front?

IMO time to cut the hood and add a scoop heh

just doesn’t seem from that setup the IC will get much air

there is ducting in the underside of the hood. it connects to the front grille. the hood on this car is higher than the regular Mazda3 to accomodate the air ducts.

While I’m not a huge fan of the car, I love the concept, and hope to see more automakers step in this direction.

yeah, this car is definitely hot. i wouldn’t mind owning one.

Saw it in person last night and made a few observations. First i love the car, the price can’t bea beat for a hot little car with alot of potential The wheels are way too big and way too flat, that’s the first thing that would go. The lower part of the back bumper has a black section that sorta doesn’t belong, painting it all one solid color would look a little better IMO. For a little while i seriously considered trading the steye for one but i would miss too many things about my car.

ive got the Motor Trend at home. i think it ran 14.1 and beat the wrx in the autocross by about 2 seconds, i read it 2 days ago so im not 100%

Like Phil said to me earlier…

FWD -
Top Mount Intercooler with crap ducting

Good Job Mazda! :rolljerk:

Nothing a Hybrid FMIC can’t fix, except that whole FWD thing.

You can blame canada for that. Their front bumper basher test is alot more stringent than ours. Unless the car is made with enough bracing to protect the FMIC and the radiator it will fail the canadian test. And will not be eligible for region wide North American Sales.

I never understood this test. Put them on the same tires and then retest. Sucky all seasons vs. Decent High-Po rubber is not fair.
