recently picked up a Thule 753 used on Craigslist for my 2001 E39 540. This is the same one that’s compatible with the E46. It was a good deal, but only came with the base mounting rack. I am wondering what other accessories are required to mount up snowboards and skis. I’m unfamiliar with roof racks in general so maybe you guys have some input. I am looking to mount up at least 2 snowboards, and MAYBE a pair of skis. Leaning towards the snowboards though. What do you guys think?
Thule’s website is down too so I can’t look it up there.
Ski’s and Snowboards use the same clamping system. You can either carry them in the open with the standard clamps or get a roof-box and keep them enclosed.
I think the standard Ski/Board mounts are about $100 give or take.
I got my Thule Atlantis 1200 box for $360 that I use on my Jeep.
Connects directly to Thule car rack square load bars. Attaches to oval Thule Rapid Aero bars and Xsporter truck racks using the Thule Xadapt 2 adapters (not included; see accessories below). Additionally, you can use the Thule Fat Mouth Clamps (not included; see accessories below) for connecting the carrier to factory installed cross bars and Yakima roof rack bars.
Since the Thule 753 uses the square load bars, this will work for you.
edit: although, from the looks of the aucton, the mounts that the seller is including are not meant for the square bars.
