instead of paying $350 to buy a set of JDM tails, i bought a set of stockers for $75 and have the same exact tails!
tails in stock form:
cutting the stock tails apart with the dremel:
the tails all apart and the pieces im going to paint:
first coat of Tamiya Clear Orange and Black Satin’d the chrome housing:
i put 4 coats of Tamiya orange on to amber the signals and 3 coats of the black satin on the chrome housing.
After 4 coats of the orange and FINISHED TAILS:
i will have some pics tomorrow sometime when they are on the car!
why did you dremel them apart instead of just heating them in a oven loosening the bonding agent?
Exactly what i was going to ask
that isnt going to work with the evo tails, headlights yes. tails no
with these tails u cant just heat them up and they will fall apart, if this was the case i would’ve done it. there is no bonding agent, its all one piece molded

MAybe he doesn’t have an oven to heat them in?
Besides, if he lives with Moms, and she finds car parts in her oven, he’s catching a beatdown. :ham:
Nice write up dude and they come out awesome. Can’t wait to see pics with them on the car. How’d you keep the orange transparent, just light coats?
yea 4 light coats did the job
 start offering this service to others and make some $$$$$$. I’m sure lots of EVO owners would rather pay you, lets say $250 than have to pay $350 for the real ones.
ricers and their crazy projects :)…but they do look good, can’t wait to see them tomorrow on the car
cxant wait to see the pics of them on the car…shuld definantly look hot
