Mythbusters Porsche 928 Project:

They’re going to test the claim that the 928 could drive faster in reverse, lol. Not quite “plane on a treadmill” but cool because they’ve flipped the body of the car around to do it.

At 75 mph, the original 1978 928 was losing 28 hp to drag, a noticeable deficit given its 219-hp engine.

Preview only (show hasn’t aired)

I hope they did something with the steering thats going to be a little hairy.

are you serious? you can’t see that in this picture?

This will be pretty funny.

X…

This is awesome. although I’m dreading what they are going to miss this time. their tests aren’t always very scientific. For instance they will replace the weight with weights, but what about weight distribution?

Holy crap, I’m not awake yet. I just realized they only flipped the body. :picard: I looked and thought it was rear wheel steering.

like cannonball3 myth w/countache vs fiero and no corner weigths…

This will definitely be interesting. I have heard this rumor before (not the 928, just cars in general), so it will be neat to see what they find.

I wonder why they couldn’t just wind-tunnel test it, instead of doing it.

Cause that would be boring

They wind tunnel test on the small scale first.

Edit: it looks like it’s just what i said… they didn’t take into account weight distribution, and there is more wheel spin when the car is traveling backwards. I also can’t help but thinking there was something else they messed up changing the rolling resistance of the car.

i clearly saw them put weights in the car, do you think they just picked arbitrary amounts of weight and put them where ever?
