truck lsx’s are iron, cars are alluminum, lt1s are cheaper to build.because they are old school totally different block lt1 and ls1
Like he said ^. nothing interchanges between LT1s and LSXs besides maybe some sensors and posibly injectors. I would do the 5.3 route cause they are cheap and almost indestructable. They have the same crank and rods as an LS1 but the iron block makes them about 50lbs. heavier. You can probably get a 5.3 for cheaper than an LT1 or an LS1 and the 5.3 will take all the same parts as LS1s. Get a 5.3L and put 4.8L pistons in it for 10.5 CR and then a used ZO6 cam that can be had for $100 and you almost have yourself a mini iron LS6.
I think you said you already have your engine… anyway good luck. this sounds like a fun project
Ya i got it for 800 (cheap) from a junkyard near me. came outta (what look like an 02) Trans am. with auto tranny. (plan to switch to 6spd)
Comes with ecu harness, motor, tranny, and a bunch of sensors. the only problem is it hasnt been ran since 05 when the accident occured. it was hit hard from behind. i payed for it but between this weekend and wednesday i should have time to go get it out. but i was taking vavle cover off and stuff to make sure evrythings ok, but when i got a little furthuri noticed a bent vavle, and a couple other very small oil leaks.
idk if i should even bother.
Ya the 5.3, im kinda searching for it also. still rather get a alum block over iron, but if i find one cheap enough ill most likly get it.
Its only a 50 pound diff anyway the heads are all still iron… at least take the intake injectors and fuel rail form the trans am cause you will need it to fit under the hood if you use a 5.3L. 01+ LS1s use LS6 intakes so they are rather sought after too
