Need some computer tech help...

Anyone have anything for/against refurbished laptops? I was checking out TD just now, and came across this:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4040158&CatId=1891

i dont have nothin against it cuz if it dont work u can send that shit back>>>>

just my opinion, referbs are like used cars, somtimes you get a decent one and somtimes you get a headache…
if its certified and warenteed then sure i would say go for it…

I might hop on it. I don’t get paid until a week from today, but I think I’ll ask my g-ma to borrow money so I can get that before they sell it.

ya but if he gets it and its fucked up, he can take that shit back, its tiger direct, not want ad digest

HP/Compaq’s tend to eat motherboards these days. Mainly just the dv2000, 6000 and 9000 series, but the newest models are TOO NEW to tell yet.
Toshibas just need BIOS updates every now and then.
Gateways appear to be fine, other than a random $399 model that I saw munching motherboards almost weekly.
Dell, same deal like Toshiba. Just need the occasional BIOS update to fix a quirk (sometimes, IE stuck in hibernation!)
Acer, great.
Asus, great.
IBM/Lenovo, lol… seriously, who pays this much for something that breaks this frequently. These things look old school too.
Apple, way overpriced. Neato. Works well. Hate the single mouse button, but thats me.

Before you contest my above statements, please understand this is based on my experience with working @ Geek Squad for the past 2 years. There are repair trends that you can easily follow on some brands.

You work at Best Buy?

Yes sir, Saratoga Springs.

im sure you do a good job but from my experience fixing pc’s that geek squad couldnt… they seem to be a big joke to me

Albany or Saratoga? 2 totally different realms.

When we don’t fix something, it’s because the customer doesn’t want to pay the price. I don’t make the prices, but I have to charge them. Lol.

crossgates best buy, yea the prices are mad high :open_mouth:
