Thanks. My shoulder is doing ok, it doesn’t hurt much any more except when I wake up in the morning, but not to bad. I’m hoping to be all better by march. I have an appointment at the doctors at the end of the month to see how I’m coming along. Hopefully they will give me the ok to drive again. I appreciate you asking, thanks. We will have to run sometime this summer.

good to hear you’re a little better. seems like almost everyone i know broke or injured something while snowboarding this season.

Welcome…if you’re on Bear Ridge…I roll by your house almost daily. Also when Im heading out to the Mighty meets or cruising out that way.

A peppy 2 banger lol. Not much but the car only weighs a little under 2500 so every little mod helps. My mods are pec Stage II Clutch, Fidanza Flywheel, knocker mod, and adjustable cam gear on intake side set at -4*.

The knocker mod is a long story. A guy on the ZX2 forums figured this one out. The knock sensor on the zx2 is way to sensitive. It detects knock when there is no knock and pulls about 6* of timing. just unplug it and bam, problem solved. Regular PCMs can get away with running 87 octane and still get away with no nock but if you start to get knock just up the oct. since I have an S/R PCM I have to use 91 oct. I just run 93 just to be safe. The advantages are smoother power band, better mpg, and more hp. It was dynode at 3-4 hp gain. I also got my highest mpg at 38mpg all thruway. Before the mod i was getting around 35-36mpg.

sounds pretty intense for an escort. is your clutch the aftermarket centerforce one that came with the car, or did you replace it? i think i remember reading somewhere that you had replaced both the flywheel and clutch on your own.

regardless, if that thing actually weighs 2500 pounds (not that i’m calling you a liar, but i once met a kid that was CONVINCED his saturn weighed 2600 lbs, and it obviously didn’t), i’m not really going to have much of a chance. but still, if you still want to run when your shoulder heals, i’m all for it. i’d like a ride too.

oh, and btw, the knocker mod sounds pretty cool lol. free speed is the best kind of speed.

Anyways, I don’t have the centerforce in there anymore. I have the Spec Stage II. In the spring I’m installing a UDP and hopefully buying some light weight wheels that weigh 10lbs. a piece. I’ll let you run me before I get all that done and when I still have my winter tires on.

I guess if you want to get technical the curb weight is 2,468lbs.

I forget what other vehicle from ford the mod worked on but I think it might have been an explorer. I wouldn’t recommend trying it though unless you really know what your doing. I wouldn’t have known about it if it wasn’t for the zx2 forum.

im not going to touch anything like that on my car. not really worth it, since im going to be in the market soon. i dont know that much about S/Rs, i just read up a little bit so as not to be the uninformed no0b. actually surprises me that ford did something to this magnitude as far as mass produced car performance.

Thats cool, shows your interest a little. Actually the car is sorta rare. Ford’s final limited production count was 2,110 units, consisting of 110 yellow S/R’s in 1999 only in southern California and in Year 2000, 500 black , 500 red and 1,000 yellow. Got that from the link I sent ya. Although it does feel good to drive something that is 1 out of 500.

I cant say that my car is fast but I can say it is defiantly not slow. When summer rolls around I probably will post kill stories weather I was the one killing or not, I’m not ashamed to say I lost.

Good eye, I went to last years and the year before. You didn’t miss much, they only ran the first spectator stage on Saturday. The 2nd and 3rd spectator stage was on hold forever because of some drunk dudes jumping out in front of the cars. I guess a fight started out to between them and the park police. They couldn’t run the last spectator stage because the drivers didn’t have their lights on. I probably mixed something up but only one out of the 4 spectator stages ran. It was shitty but we had a good time.

Let me know if your going this summer. I most likely will, I’m trying to make it a yearly thing now.
