i see what you are saying, and i looked at exactly what you said.
ruling out used, because i definitely wanted a BRAND NEW car…
comparing apples to apples, if you look at new sport compact cars, you have the following choices:
in my mind, i ruled out the cobalt because of relatively low gm historic resale value (which DOES factor into a new car buying decision, but most people dont think of it… more cash inflow at the end = less overall cashflow attributable to the car). not a big fan of the gti’s styling. i test drove it and loved the way it drove, but wasnt a huge fan of the way the car was configured. tC isnt quick enough for what i wanted. wrx was a few thousand bucks out of my price range, even for the “TR” version. the tiburon is a dime a dozen, no thanks. the mazdaspeed 3 was an option, but i am not enthralled mazda’s quality givin some of the consumer reports i have been reading.
thats what led me to the civic. i drove it, fell in love with the stying, heritage, motor, V-TECH y0, and cut myself a great deal. it worked out very nicely for me. and i did NOT pay 25k for my car and dont ask what i did pay, cause i wont tell
That’s because the Civic has:
That makes sense. I guess I don’t have a clear feel for just how expensive new cars are, and am a bit hung up on the “Civic” badge on the thing. Cool that you got a good price too. How long is the warranty on it?
Well, aparently GM’s SS models hold their value a bit better…I went to Mitsubishi, to look at an EVO 9 SE, and they were actually willing to give me almost 18k for my car as a trade in…but either way the new civic is indeed a pretty nice car…not my cup of tea, but nice none the less…
yeah, new cars definitely are expensive… i would prefer that they were free
powertrain is 3/36k
i got a full exterior and paint warranty for 10yrs… against all stone chips, corrosion, rust, scratches etc… including the pesky rusting from the inside that happens to hondas sometimes…
really? thats good… maybe i generalized too much when i assessed gm’s historical resale. im sure it fluctuates by model and trim level just like the resale on the civics is definitely different between the dx and the si.

Good lord 8.75% on sales tax? Where do you live? Long Island ?
:mamoru: Erie County.
It is ridiculous. Especially since you can get one with every option for no more than $21,000
