State Police cracking down on distracted driving
Looks like they are using unmarked Tahoes for a lot of “texting witnessing” duty.
5 points is damn harsh for this, especially when many cars come with essentially indash iPads and thats OK.
Yuuuup. pretty fucking stupid when most drivers are just as distracted by their factory installed navs and (more or less) indash computers as they are phones
Not going to sit here and say that you should be texting while driving because you really shouldnt, but this really is a dumb fucking double standard if you ask me
yeah have fun proving your left hand was on the wheel , okay thats easy but your other wasnt on your phone but on your dash or your climate controls

Like Boxer, I don’t condone texting while driving, but as is a well known fact, I do it. As do probably 90% of the population that has a texting plan. But, like Boxer, I also agree that we do MANY things behind the wheel that are just as dangerous…such as eating our fast food, etc.
They only made it illegal because it’s a way to make revenue under the guise of ‘public safety’. I’m surprised they don’t do the same for said eating of McDonalds, etc. Remember when texting was a secondary offense? I do. I got pulled over during that period when they were ‘trial running’ the program. I think their result was that they could make money so they changed it to primary…and slapped a 5 pointer on it too boot.
