Yeah, i had to keep my car happy, lol, Now for my latest idea. Does anyone on here know anything about bringing a car into the U.S. from Canada? i was told i needed a “Port of Entry Paper” and i can get the title legal no problem, but im wondering about actually crossing the border. searches and such, has anyone here had any experience with this? any info. would be greatly appreciated. thanks

welcome:beer:

welcome

i went to Niagra last weekend and when we crossed the border they just asked what we were going to Canada for and we said we were going for the weekend with our fraternity and everything was cool going into Canada. Coming back into the U.S. wasn’t as easy - they asked up for our lisences and birth certificates or passports and they also searched our trunk a bit. But i’ve heard stories of cars getting searched and asking for titles and all that but as long as your a normal looking person I don’t think they’d give you a tough time. But yea do some research on the port of entry thing

welcome! nice little collection you have going.

  1. Welcome.

  2. We can’t see wvstreets links without registering.

  3. Getting cars in from Canada is not all that easy. Yes you need the document you described but you have to go through a registered importer. If you’re buying a vehicle from a dealership and the manufacturer currently has the same model in the U.S. the restrictions are less and as I understand it the process is much simpler, but if you are thinking of bringing in something sweet like a RHD car or something in Canada that came from Europe it takes a registered importer and a good chunk of money all along the way, plus there is NOT a guarantee that the State you are in will issue you a title allowing you to use the car on the road as there are even more limitations about that. I looked into this a few months ago - it’s no small operation and in the end you might get screwed by the State anyway, making your whole investment essentially for nothing.

This is all assuming you want to do it legally. If you are doing some hack job like swapping VIN plates or whatever it’s a different story and I’m fairly sure you’re eligible for jail time.
