well that fucking sucked
I saw trains moving slowly and quickly pressed alt+F4:lol
so thats just a ridiculously heavy train?
I see no rail cars being humped.
I caught the 138’-10" GEX 80002 down at the port of albany. It can carry 440 Tons, but it is not a Schnabel, its a flat bed. Still pretty cool though. Crappy pics because i had to take them through a fence.
1,231,500 pounds when loaded. :eek
So, you’re a rail buffy then?
I call the cops on buffys when Im on duty.
Just sayin’…:lol
saw a train once. was not impressed. my dad has a bicycle though that i used to enjoy riding as a young boy…
what does “do not hump” mean
Ask Illya. :Idiots
rofl:rofl
srsly though what does it mean :lol
aaahhh a virgin joke… classic
Means it should only be pulled never pushed. This is because it has so many pivots if you tried to push it would likely try to rotate instead of move, causing it to pop off the rails which would be a major scene.
Hump yards are where rail cars are pushed up a hill (hump), uncoupled, and then rolled downhill into remotely controlled sorting tracks. Hump operations are the railroad’s most efficient sorting operations, and the North Platte Terminal is UP’s biggest hump yard.
Heavy equipment intrigues me, especially mining shit. That massive multi-wheel road carrier GE rents out from time to time to transport turbine rotors is another impressive piece of machinery(that big red trailer). Quite interesting watching those guys move that thing around like it was another limb.
Saw something that looked like that transferring a bank vault once. It was attached to a truck and on the road however. It took another driver in the rear of the trailer to maneuver it.
Likely the one. I’ve seen two different sized but similar trailers in the Schenectady plant, they rent them from some company down south. Does have a cab in the rear for tight maneuvering but most of the time it’s all controlled from the forward cab on the rig.
Another cool piece of equip are those power carts. Very large hydrostatic movers that can be continuously linked together to form a larger and larger platform. Wheels rotate around axis 360 degrees and they have vertical movement to conform to uneven terrain. They all link together and are control as a group by a single operator. Saw it on the science channel once.
I’m pretty the trailer you guys are talking about is from Lucia Specialized hauling in Schenectady.
This one?
That is a 200 ton over the road trailer less than half the weight of the rail car for perspective…
The moving platform things are pretty much patented by a company called Mammoet. They make massive cranes and lifting systems. Very bad ass stuff.

This is 800 Tons!
This is a HUGE road crane. Massive. 1200 TON!
Yes on both accounts That’s the trailer and those are for certain the “carts” I was talking about. Couldn’t remember the company name for the life of me.
