I think I kindof know where Southtowns is coming from. I won’t make any direct judgements or accusations, because I didn’t forth much efforts to go up to the large groups and introduce myself. I was there last night from ~5:30-7pm and the one thing I took away from it was that it seemed like it was more of a hangout to meet up for most of the younger crowd. Watched a lot of cars roll in and just park, owner gets out, then goes and hangs with the crew. I was bummed that a majority of hoods were shut, windows rolled up, and no one near the car to talk to them about what they built. I stuck around the '55 and had some great talks with some guys (non nyspeeders) who were genuinely interested in the car and surprised as to what was under the hood. Car shows are tough for me (and I assume others) because I want to hang by the car and chat with people who cruise by, yet I also want to go talk with others. Southtowns, I saw your truck and loved it! However you weren’t there when I was making my rounds:(

Meets are very clicky. hence why I don’t bother going anymore. Sure there are some cool people that will talk to you, but I can’t remember the last meet I went to where someone was actually talking about cars.
albeit I’m usually the one humping others and pretending to be gay and not talking about cars… but It was far more fun when everyone was on a level playing field and a 13 second car could get your dick sucked.

thats pretty much exactly how i feel about car shows and events. they all seem clicky and people like to go show ow much shit they have done (and done wrong) to their cars looks, not how much time and knowledge they put into them.
i want to sit by my car and talk to people about it…i had one guy blown away when i was talking to him about my car, he was like “shit, no way, a saturn?”.
its the people that stereotype based upon first impressions that bug me.
