the reverse gears dont have syncros, if they grind, i would say you clutch is on its way as well.

if you push the clutch and try to shift into reverse, the gears grind. thats what happened in my civic, the torsional spring broke and jammed between the pressure plate and clutch disc, clutch wouldnt disengage and it would grind going into reverse
ok so a broke torsional spring would cause it,not a bad/worn clutch disc
