I need to get a video card (GeForce 3 or equivalent) for our old computer (a Dell Dimension 4600). All of the newer cards that Best Buy carries require a PCI-Express slot. I’m pretty sure I only have PCI.
I checked the system devices and see PCI bus - I guess that means standard PCI?
I assume the newer cards won’t work on a regular PCI slot?
If yes to both of those, I was going to look for an older nVidia card with 128MB. Sound ok?
Depending on what type of AGP port it is, 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x. How old is the Dell, and do you have any documentation for it? I’m guessing it’s a 4x port. Just don’t buy too tip top of the line AGP card and you’ll be set.
