Plotter Kill Preserve in Rotterdam. Amazing preserve with some nice easy hiking trails, and some more difficult paths to get down into the gorge depending on how you go about it.

The gorge has three large falls, this is one of two 40 ft falls. The third is upstream from here and is around 60 ft. All have shallow flat rock beds at there bases that you can easily venture upon to view the falls and enjoy the mist. Really unique rocks and features, way different from your typical Adirondack stream.

There are parking areas on Mariaville Rd and Coplon Rd. It takes only about 15 minutes to get there from downtown Schenectady! I’ve lived 20 minutes away from this gem my entire life and just wandered through it for the first time the other day. Takes about 15 minutes to hike to the first drop from the Mariaville Rd entrance and the other two are shortly after. Definitely recommend to anyone that is looking to adventure.
