Popcorn Hour (movie streaming device)

i am really considering about getting this because i can not stand streaming through my xbox anymore but can this stream to multiple tv’s? for example can i watch something in my room and also have someone watching something in another room?

also what is the main difference between the A-110 and the C-200? just the blu-ray drive capability and better processor?

and i just saw they have refurbs of the A-100 for $100, is it the same basically as the A-110?

my A-110 came in today, now i am trying to figure out how to set it up

Your best bet is to ignore any instructions it came with (other than the 1st step about setting the output mode for HDMI or Component) and just follow this:

http://pch.omertron.com/YAMJ_Step_By_Step

That will get you the nice dvd box art interface and everything will work perfectly.

Finally got my win 7 sharing issues straightened out, everything working perfect now. Im getting a a110 tho, the 100 does not have hdmi 1.3 which is required to play HD-DVD and DTS-HD audio streams, so if you have a a-100 your stuck with dts

.nfo files are simple to create, notepad, IMDB link to movie and rename the nfo to the exact movie file name. 2 seconds of work.

Will those audio formats not play over the coaxial audio out?

Blu-Ray Burner + PCH = WIN!!!

hmm never thought of that, i will try

wait no that wont work, coax does not have the BW to play those formats.

ugh im starting to think this a-100 is too limited.

Does not play multiple .m2ts files you have to go and edit the moviejukebox.properties file to have the pch pick the largest. So dumb, i guess the c-200 does everything, keeps the whole brd structure, allowing menus and such.

I just download everything in MKV.

anyone using any other skins for yamj?, there are some really good ones out there

I need to look in to something like this…
I recently tried using the verizon fios media manager to stream videos from my pc through my dvr receiver and the picture/sound playback quality was that of a 20 year old VHS cassette that has been on top of a toolbox in a forgotten garage collecting dust and mouse dung being played through a vhf connected vcr on a 100 year old tv… or something like that

i was thinking about using the ÆON Movie Wall one but never got around ti doing it

same here, i have everything downloaded for it, maybe tonight ill install it

Yeah, I thinking about installing that skin but just haven’t got around to it.

Tonight at a minimum I have to see if there is an update for YAMJ since the newer titles I’ve added have this “href=blahblah” garbage in the description, which means IMDB changed their formatting again.

Looking at the revision history it looks like they fixed it on 11/12.

thats odd, i never had that issue with any movies. if no nfo appears i just use notpad and paste the imdb link in there lol

You might want to look at the details page for some of your latest movies. This has nothing to do with the NFO being right. YAMJ does a screen scrape of IMDB.com to get all that info, then puts it into XML files to display it. IMDB changed something and YAMJ could no longer pull all the info correctly from the IMDB page. The only way this wouldn’t affect you is if you have a version of YAMJ released after the 11/12 bugfix.

ohh shit lol

thanks jay, ill look into it, all ive been looking at is the front page and where u hit play, nothing seems out of the ordinary tho.

Bump: So Ive started looking into getting one of these, I haven’t done a whole lot of research, so bear with me. I currently use my mac mini with a 500gb ext hard drive, but 1080p blu-ray rips will not play for shit, so its about time to ditch this setup. Ok so first off I have a nice 1080p samsung display that i use on the mac mini that also doubles for photos editing. Is using a computer display going to be a problem ? Secondly is there any kind of audio equalizer on the device ? As ghetto as it is, i kinda enjoy just playing all my movies through VLC and using the audio EQ in the program.

Finally got my TV series pages to view correctly, naming conventions are a bit tricky

using Aeon movie wall as my skin, pretty to set up, i just had to change the fanart sizes to view properly on my tv.

thetvdb.com seems to always give a api error but from what i was reading, its normal and all info populates correctly.

Replacement for the C-200 and it is only 130, and it does quite a bit of internet services and retains all the goodness of the current A and C class devices. Now if they would support Hulu that would just be awesome.
