Porsche buys VW.... the PAG.

Porsche Officially Buying Volkswagen
We just received a flash message from Jalopnik tipster Brian, who we think spends his mornings in front of the Reuters wire just waiting for auto-related news to come in. But this one’s an industry whopper as the wire company is now reporting it’s official – Porsche has given the go-ahead for an increase of their stake in Volkswagen to more than 50%. But fear not lovers of the Knights of Teuton, Porsche has no desire to merge the two companies. Nope, all they want to do is ride the automaker for the people off into the sunset where the two can make sweet, sweet German love. Full and anticlimactic Reuters report after the jump. UPDATE: It’s official – Porsche has agreed to increase their equity stake to more than 50%, thus effectively buying VW.

PORSCHE SAYS HAS GIVEN THE GO-AHEAD FOR AN INCREASE OF THE STAKE IN VOLKSWAGEN AG TO MORE THAN 50 PER CENT
PORSCHE SAYS REVIEWS BY THE REGULATORY AUTHORITIES ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS

PORSCHE SAYS AS SOON AS THE REQUISITE CLEARANCES HAVE BEEN OBTAINED, PORSCHE SE CAN ACQUIRE THE MAJORITY OF THE SHARES IN VOLKSWAGEN

PORSCHE SAYS IT IS NOT PLANNED TO MERGE THE TWO COMPANIES

wow… i dont even know what to say, forget that idea of owning a porche someday :headbang

why? they aren’t going to merge companies.

nah, itll be fine. porsche was saying last year that they have plans to purchase vw last year, but they wanted to hold off for during the holidays.

That would be great in a way

Featuring the all new 2009 Porsche GTI and the Jetta 1.8T

lol would be funny to see if they would merge but that wont happen anytime soon

It won’t happen…ever. Porsche has wanted the lions share of VAG for a while becasue they use the Touareg chasis to produce their Cayenne. By being the primary shareholder they can now produce the chasis in their own factory and send it to VW to produce their Touareg instead of it being the other way around. Porsche has always prided themselves on building all of their cars from start to finish in one of their two factories, now they can maintain that by completing this transaction. Porsche is a VERY VERY small auto manufacturer and often times that is forgotten when looking at some of their more mainstream competitors so this was a HUGE ordeal for them to spend this amount of money to buy into VAG. Porsche owners and lovers can continue to appreciate EVERY Porsche vehicle being 100% build in house from start to finish. Anyway, you can all continue your mindless rants and comments now. :bowdown

Its amazing when you see how each car company owns stakes in so many others. Basically they are all one. :lol
