standard discharge “papers” are 2 parts, DD-214 member copy 1 and member copy 4. it gives service period, type of discharge, re-enlistment category/eligability, veteran information, etc.
if she had a “whole big folder thing” its a medical discharge most likely. with her deposition from the medical clinic and the medical review board, on why she wont be able to serve. that type would be a medical separation under honorable conditions, which she could get medical disability benefits from the VA.
for that to happen must have been more than a collar bone break, must have torn something as well, because my friend had bad shoulders, and the Navy refused to perform reconstructive surgery, so he got medically discharged. worked out well for him because he landed a sick job. right place right time.
i knew a few people who joined at 17. sucks for them because its just that much longer until they can drink legally, and alot of the younger crowd gets in trouble for underage drinking when i was in. the 17-19 yr old’s mostly. by 20 they smartened up and wouldnt drink on duty, or on base, or attempt to come back to base drunk underage… i had a fun time one night filling out an underage drinking/DUI incident report. that morning when the CO came in, it was fun to explain to him that one of our members got returned to base by the sherrifs deputy, for drinking/driving underage… they didnt even give the kid time to sober up. he was standing infront of the entire squadron in his service dress blues at an “open” CO’s mast. …Fail.
Wasnt offended, was proud of the honesty. Haven’t met a girl in many years who doesnt use one, but only so few will admit to such a mundane one. Have you not found the joys of the Angry Beaver and the Dolphin?? If you want to rent a Sybian for a few days I can work it out.
BTW, as for the real pics on this thread, nice eyes, all of them.
non judicial punishment. the entire squadron of 230+ stood and watched this kid get read his charges against him, and see him get reduced in rank get ordered to CCU(criminal corrections unit) for 30 days. after that was done, he would do a alcohol treatment course. and once done with that he was to be discharged( administrative separation, other than honorable, failure to adapt to military regulations) once that happened the civilian law enforcement had there stab at him( double jeopardy)
