All of my ARs are free float barrels. For the day I eventually tune them in to shoot out to 600 yards.
I enjoy shooting 600 with my Ar. Thats the max iv been able to shoot with distance restrictions. Anyone know anywhere to do farther? id love to try 700 or 800. Have some hand loads id been dying to try.
You really are going to have problems at those distances. Its such a light round that environmentals impact it’s trajectory significantly.
A 72 gr. hand load and a LOT of practice I’ll give you a 17in group at BEST at 700 yards. And that’s after a lot of practice. That’s really the upper limit of the 5.56 projectile.
I’ve been on the fence about this for a while.

As for the 600 yard conversations. (this can is going to work double duty on my 5.56 and eventually .308 guns)
But in reality, the 10.3 inch barrel is going to limit my 5.56 and .300 blackout to around 200 yards. Which for my purposes is plenty, anything well beyond that is what the .308 will ultimately be used for.

Plenty of room down here for the pits, the fbods, the guns, and i suppose wives if you have to… (come down whenever you want, plenty of room at my place)
My next setup is a .458 SOCOM for all these 10 round mags I have for the upper.

I was shooting my DD M4V5 .300blkout at the range with the 762sdn6 suppressor on it using hornady Vmax 110 grain 300 whisper rounds and it was as quite as the subsonic 200+ grain rounds, a guy tried hitting a 300 yard plate with his subsonic rounds. he was hitting the dirt around the 225 yard range with a decent hold over.
Har Har. I’ve never even gone hunting. In fact I even catch and release most fish I catch. I feel so badly watching things suffer. Break into my house or put my family at risk, and I think I’d get over that instantly.
Where do you live? At first I was surprised it drops that fast, but at 1100 ft per second, that heavy bullet has to come back to earn eventually.
How do you like the ddm4, I think I may sell my Stag to upgrade to something that’s more purposely built. I really want a piston gun though. (I missed out on a ddm4v3 flat top last year for 1100 nib. Still regret it today.)

I still live in NY but I live ten minutes from PA and a good friend of mine is a FFL class 3 dealer. I love my DDm4v5 but I swapped out the 300aac barrel for a mid length CHF Daniel Defense 556 barrel. I actually want to sell it right now and get a Desert Tactical Arms rifle and then buy another ar15 later.
The range we shoot at in PA is uphill past 100 yards which may have made the drop look worse but it definitely has a lot more drop. the 300aac specific eotech shows you how much it drops lol. I think the supersonic 200 yard reticle is the 100yard subsonic reticle lol.
Got a call from my local dealer and a few of my tax stamps came in today.
