My dad has a 4door 2002 spectra gsx for sale, he just put brand new brakes and tires on it. It runs great and is good on gas. its red. its got 126,500 miles on it and its all highway my dad drove 45 min to and from work every day. hes asken 2600 or best offer, so im sure that he could come down on price a lil bit.
95 subaru impreza 1.8 AWD 5sp(so fun in the snow) 174k No clunks at all, super solid. Brakes are awesome, tires about 50%, also have to extra steel wheels, and a cd player I never installed.
It’s rusty but it has no lights, and doesn’t need anything so inspection shouldn’t be a problem. It idles/runs/shifts perfect. The shifter bushing is sloppy but I never miss a shift. AC is really cold, heat is really hot. Doesn’t leak or burn anything. All the power window motors work fine.
The Bad:
The gas tank leaks if filled over half way
Four ways don’t work
Cruise doesn’t work
ehhh, I don’t care if you buy my car one bit but if you are looking for something to put money into but can only go up to $3k you need a couple lessons.
Don’t look to mod some piece, just buy a better car. Even for $5k you could buy a nice miata, mustang, e36 bmw. Don’t buy something shitty for $3k with the intention of putting money into it when you could get a cleaner car with a package that might have great performance parts. Take miatas, you could buy a $2500 car that has a 1.6, some rust, cloth seats and an open diff. Or a super clean, 1.8, LSD, leather, hard top car for $5k. You would at least spend that $2500 getting the car to look as good plus finding parts and doing the work installing them.
Unless you snag a mint 240, or mint base miata for $3k with the intention of doing a swap, you are usually better off just spending the money you’d spend on mods on a better car to begin with.
02-03 WRX’s are getting cheap with 100-150k. Spend 5k on a stock 160k car thats unmodded. Leave it stock, enjoy. A $3k car with $2k into probably won’t perform as well and it definitely won’t be as reliable. The WRX does the 1/4 in 14.2@94, handles great, is easy to work on and very reliable, gets about 30mpg hwy, and is nice looking and great in the snow.
