Thank you. I originally wanted to buy a white VIII RS and do a white/white setup, but when I saw a mint red RS plans changed. It was hard enough to find a good RS as it was, so I ran with the red… The color scheme is definitely based on the rally versions- I think it matched the car nicely.
For the VII conversion, it was not easy getting the parts, none of the exterior stuff was available in the US without paying ridiculous amounts and waiting for so-called “importers”. Plus RPF1s in white powdercoat are not easy to find either. The car is gone but not forgotten.
I did an oil change and some minor stuff on this car in the RPI shop before, but that was 1.5 years ago… I used to own a red 240 too but that project never got off the ground unfortunately. Failed on that one unfortunately…

Yeah, I’ve said this a couple of times, but the VII and III are my favorite Evo shapes. The angular front and hood of the VII look “right” on the car.
It’s just too bad the necessity for the bumper support significantly impacted the exterior form of the VIII and then the IX. If you look from the front, the US versions have a rounded look to them (to make room for this support).
I ended up having my buddy from a body shop hollow out and cut some of the bumper support, which weakened it but at least provided some strength in case of a collision. Some people rolled around without the bumper support but that just seemed too risky to me.
The original parts are so hard to find that people would pay a ridiculous sum. I think I sold the hood + bumper for like close to $1000, seriously… It sold like 72 hrs after posting on EvoM. Still better than the $1500 + few months wait from Gruppe-S or whomever it was that was carrying it…
I brought 2 sets of VII bumpers and hoods from Japan, so I put one on the car, sold a set, then sold the other one off my car…
