Question: Watching a Bills game in the middle of nowhere

I’m having a party at a park and just realized it’s scheduled during the bills opener.

I remember somebody bringing a tv and satellite to a car meet to watch the sabres game…

what are my options to pick up the signal for the bills game at a park? I’ll bring a tv, i just don’t have any access to a satelite that i’m aware of.

suggestions? volunteers?

If you have any satellite TV for your self you can move the satellite around with you lol my father does that when he wants to watch tv at his land in east bumfuck.

If worst comes to worst unbolt it from your roof

This is assuming you have satellite tv, I don’t know why you would be fucking around with cable

um, rabbit ears? Bills arent on cable like the sabres :stuck_out_tongue:

DO YOU HAVE AN HDTV?

If your set has a built in HD tuner all that you will need is rabbit ears & a power supply.

Bills games are broadcast on (HD) OTA channels.

^ i figured rabbit ears was always an option…it’s been since 1988 that i last used them. Do rabbit ears get reliable/decent reception?

and no, i don’t have a satellite.

You can get HD OTA (1080i) with rabbit ears.

I’ve done it (at my house as well as my mothers)
JayS has done it
Joe has done it

When i got our first HD set (~3 yrs ago) i used rabbit ears just to see if it really worked, well, it does.

When I bought my mom a HD panel, we didn’t have the “appropriate” long range antennas, so I set them up with Rabbit ears.

I picked up some $60 rabbit ears for my old apartment when I didn’t feel like getting cable.

They worked extremely well.

What park? How far out?

The only issue you may have (with HD OTA or satelite) is line of sight.

For reference, here’s the tower for WIVB:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=8242+Center+Street+in+Colden,+New+York&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=29.772081,57.480469&ie=UTF8&ll=42.659527,-78.623872&spn=0.862438,1.796265&z=9

chestnut ridge…not exactly in the middle of nowhere…but whatever.

That’s practically in the shadow of WIVB’s tower. You could probably pull in channel 4 with some aluminum foil taped to a piece of coax from there.

I srsly doubt you’ll really have a problem with rabbit ears. You’re going to be ~8 miles from the friggin tower.

Bring a compass with you ($2 @ any hardware store) and point them towards 135*. From “6121 Chestnut Rdg Rd, Orchard Park, NY 14127 (Chestnut Ridge Park)”

wait… I just realized who we were dealing with here.

I’m kind of surprised that you don’t already have a schematic drawn up for your own 20’ tall, collapsable, CF & Kevlar reception dish. Complete with enough solar panels to power the display set.

WTF?

If u have an HDtv that doesnt have a built in HD tuner, i have a tuner you can borrow…

as for the antenna…

i would suggest LOANING one from circuit city using their 30 day return policy…

the Terk TV55 is outstanding

But Glare is really going to suck for the TV otudoors unless you have a pavilion

^ have a pavilion and will use a LCD. I’ll probably just set it on the back on the tailgate of the rover

you watch the bills?

some party-goers might?

no, but it eliminates the excuse for people to miss the party. Btw, you’ll be invited.
