How are you doing that in PS? I actually like it. If you’re going to do big edits in PS I prefer when they’re way over the top like this. Otherwise PS work should be strictly cleaning up exposure and color IMO. Using PS to add motion blur to a shot that didn’t have it to begin makes shots look super cheesy.
Its a Lucis art filter. Famed by photographer dave hill. It can be replicated without the filter if your really interested, And the motion is real

Whoa. The Fire shots are cool. That Camera does have a manual mode though correct ? If so drop the shutter speed down far enough that the fire will almost look like its fading into a black background. Its pretty cool.

most of our shots are with SLRs so we have control over shutter speed so we dont lose quality from lack of light.
not really much advice i can give you since ive never played with the camera youve got but if you really want some detail from people that know much more than me id say jump onto buffalofstop.com
You can still get decent night shots with a point and shoot. But you’ll need a tripod no matter what.
