These pics are what i compare mine to when i say i cant get the results i want.

It’s easier to do it with things that aren’t moving (such as clouds). Stones, trees, buildings and anything with a reflection are usually the easiest to get decent results from.
it’s essentially “faking” an image to display a greater contrast range than most film/lcds/ect can display.
for instance, if you were standing inside a house and took a picture inside of it, any outside light sources (like a window) would show up as bright white… same if you were outside… any darker areas would show up black. In all reality though, in person… you would be able to see out of the window as well/see detail in darker areas
this image is a good example
HDR trys to “re-create” the full range of contrast that we can see, but can’t accurately film/photograph/ect due to technology limitations
werd, that is a very good use of it. I have a few HDR images that take advantage of that, but you wouldn’t be able to tell that it is HDR unless you knew what you were looking for.
this is an example… you can see the ghoasting of the people on the right because they were in one of the pictures I took, the woman on the left didn’t really move, that’s why she doesn’t look like a ghoast. In this pic, you can see everything from the wood to the sky, so that is a good dynamic range.
One more… my car was sitting in the shadow of the tree. Each exposure you couldn’t see something (either blown out or too dark), I just did this quickly while I was out yesterday:
very nice job man  alot of people tend to over use it, but those turned out great… very subtle if you don’t know what to look for. Any chance of editing out the “ghosted” people?

I can edit out the ghoasted people… in fact, this is the 2nd version of that photo. The first version, I lost due to my computer getting getting flooded
I just got a D40x this weekend, so hopefully I’ll get some much nicer shots soon. I’m still messing with it and getting used to it, but I love this thing so far.

Thanks. That was the evening after my cousin’s funeral. It was really windy that day. Hm. I love that photo. Reminds me of how I felt at that moment. Despite feeling really sad… it’s the same way for the piano piece that I wrote at that time. Goodness me…
on a happier note, here are neat pictures of friends,
