To the guys who have their camera on them 24/7 (anyone else besides Walker?), what do you keep your camera in? I’m considering ditching the picture-a-day thing in lieu of riding my bike to school more. Book bag w books/laptop+lunch pail+ camera bag is too much. (camera bag is barely big enough to fit the d40 in).

I’ve kept up since Jan 1st besides one day, although I am 11 days behind on uploading them…

Thoughts?

Normally mines in nothing in my car. If its in something, its in my camera bag/backpack

this is what im using…

That looks legit for being so cheap. I just dropped $125 on a Kata 3N1-33, since I’m contemplating buying and carrying around a MacBook Pro.

That is probably way too much of a bag for you, though, as you will have a school bag as well. You can just buy a fanny pack type of case and throw it in your book-bag… OR bring the fanny pack back to life.

usually when i’m out, and have both cameras with me, one is around my neck and one is either in my hand or on my shoulder, i rarely carry my cameras in a bag

Well yea, when I specifically go out to shoot I do that also, but I keep my camera on me all the time while at school cause ya never know when it will be time to take today’s picture. I’m at school from 9am-10pm most days…

I might look into getting a bigger book bag/ something with a camera spot. Or a fanny pack case. lol. although I dont know how well one of those will fit a d40, the bag I have now is barely fits it. but if I get something without the side pockets and what not that might help.

egay… holler.

thanks! my camera bag strap adjuster just broke so perhaps its time… I’m gonna try to look for a more complete solution to my problem though. Goal is to make it all easily transportable by bike without using racks.

i didnt clarify, if i dont have both cameras with me and are out at the bar/hiking/bike riding/just doing whatever, one camera is usually slung around my neck/shoulder. the only time i carry a bag is when i’m hiking, and that usually holds an extra lens and thats about it(thats if i dont bring both cameras, then no need to have an extra)

point being, my cameras rarely see the inside of a bag, they are bricks…and can take a lot more of a beating than you think

D80 survived a 40+ mph dive off the roof of a car, along with my 18-70, both still work 100%

ive got a lowenpro bag that i dont use anymore…

i think you just got lucky on this occasion.

Skurge, you seriously take a dslr into bars with it hanging around your neck? LOL

Tourists…

edit - the rolleyes emoticon looks fucking retarded now.

i bring my camera to allen st all the time…

i’m not so sure, the only thing broken(and the camera tumbled pretty damn good for a while) was the battery grip shutter button popped off. had to bend back the flash bracket a little, other than that, just some scrapes and such

the 18-70 i had to take apart and re-assemble, it was a bit tweaked

I think you are sadly mistaken on the durability of consumer level DSLR’s, we aren’t even talking the metal bodied d2x etc…

i take my cameras pretty much everywhere with me, the decision is d80 or d2x from day to day, usually i’m out with friends, and they request that i bring them. you should try it, you’d be surprised the random people that will walk up to you cause you have a nice camera and ask to take pics of them/ask for your card…happens all the time

here’s my random picture from the bar this past weekend, our very own YAMBAG

giving all of you the finger…

Most of the emoticons suck now. I miss the old ones that you could actually tell what they were emoting.
