Yup, old hot rod “tea-leaf” reading. It’s actually how Holley recommends you tune for A/F without a wideband. WOT pull on fresh plugs, shut the car down at 30 mph, pull over, pull a plug from each bank, profit.
From people I have talked to in the past it seems to help with figuring out timing?
Either way wideband is the way to go and your computer has a pretty decent amount of sensors to get feed back about whats happening
Sure, it will tell you if you are running rich or lean via timing. If your timing is spot on, you can use it to adjust your A/F ratios as well. The visual gauging is white to tan to brown/black on the porcelain.
