I predict a skit where the secret service dives in front of the president to take the hit from the shoe (in slow motion of course), then someone is holding him in their arms as he passes away, with a tread mark on his cheek.

In Arab culture, it’s considered one of the worst insults to show someone the bottom of your foot or throw your shoe at them. The reporter is apparently not a very famous one and it was a good way to get publicity.
