The Vyrus

This bike was in the July issue of Cycle World. Powered by Ducatis Testastretta 999R motor.

Costs 85k!
Super light at only 346 pounds wet and makes 150 horsepower.
Top speed: 181 MPH

I think it looks pretty cool and I’d ride it if I could afford it lol. I like the front end (no forks).

This one costs 52k and is powered by Ducati 1000DS motor

pimp

85k? http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm259/DIRTYELECTRO/boggled.gif No thanks.

i like it, cause its italian

at first i thought it was dumb, but the more i look, the more i like!

newman there ya go, screw the vette, get one of these.

I’m trying to wrap the front suspension design around my head. I wonder how much it can actually turn with that swingarm right there. Looks like it wouldn’t be much, (not that you need to turn the wheel much at all at high speeds)

Is it worth it to even try to make it like that?

That thing is definitely nuts.

look at the front of the swingarm near the brakes, there’s a slot in there which I assume allows the wheel to “wobble” and is controlled by those red tierods (if you would call them that)

can anyone find the min turn radius?

Yeah I see that. I’m just wondering how much of a benefit it is to have a swingarm rather than a fork set up. If you think about it, as a regular bike goes into a sharp turn, the swingarm comes up, and the rear wheel moves slightly further back from the bikes COG, while the forks are angled and the front wheel comes slightly closer to the bikes COG.

On that design, both wheels will be moving slightly away, making the wheelbase longer. And from my understanding, having a shorter wheelbase on a bike, yields better handling in most cases. The difference of wheelbase would be minimal, but even 1/2" is noticeable.

EDIT - but looking close, the front swingarm is near horizontal anyhow. IDK, this thing is too complicated lol.

oh, I got ya. Yeah, I’m not quite sure. I wonder if they have any track times posted around anywhere. would be interesting to see how it does.

I just noticed this. Look at the exhaust on the bottom pic. Seems like you’d be choking on your own exhaust at red lights. The top pic is undertail.

  1. 100% rip off
  2. not that impressive- new litre bikes are about 380-400lbs making 190-200 horsepower and cost $11,xxx.
  3. whoop-di-fucking-do, see #2

^ word, the ZX-10r weighs the same as my 600rr.

junk! i dont like it at all. i would rather have a 1098

That’s nothing different from owning a ferrari, I’m sure the quality of the make is well worth the money and the price is not driven by performance alone

wat?

Are you talking about what I suspect is the intake, under the headlamp on the “drivers” side?

nah. the exhaust dumps pretty close to the front of the bike…

then what is the piping running undertail?

2nd pic, not the first. The first is undertail exhaust, the second is not.
