BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Tom Cruise is the first on the list to get Ducati's newest motorcycle — a $72,500 superbike bristling with titanium, magnesium and carbon fiber technology that can scoot up to 200 mph.
Cruise is scheduled to take delivery of the Desmosedici RR at Beverly Hills Ducati this week. Only 1,500 of the red-and-white Moto GP racing replica motorcycles will be made and Cruise gets the first.
Michael Lock, chief of Cupertino-based Ducati North America, said the Desmosedici RR “is the impossible dream — made possible.”
“We are delighted to be able to deliver the world’s first production unit here in the USA to Tom Cruise, who is a well-known Ducati enthusiast,” Lock said in a statement.
Now he’s officialy on the highway to the danger zone!
he’ll never ride it, maybe once on a closed road. He has more cars and bikes than he knows what to do with. And most of the time I’m sure someone else drives him places. It’s more a status thing for these people.
He actually can ride pretty well, and has several high-end bikes. I remember seeing something on E or whatever.
Ben Affleck also has the only Yamaha YZF-R7 in the country. $35k right there.
I judge them somewhat and his riding character. There are public events where he rode gearless and helmetless with passangers, and for obvious reasons he wasn’t doing much riding in Top Gun, the bike was on a trailer.
But he probably will rarely take it out anyway, which is what Ducati is counting on.
