TW: 1997 Honda Accord EX - 5-speed, needs TLC...

Thanks Paul, much appreciated. I assume the SE-R is treating you well…

Updated thread…brand new barkes going on the car Saturday, but I’m keeping the price the same at $2,100 so this stays good deal…

It’s December 1st, who needs a winter car?

BUMP! Brakes done and CEL gone! Someone come pick this up.

And for what it’s worth, if the CEL comes back (it didn’t for me, and I drove it for 20 minutes around the neighborhood), it was code P0401 (EGR).

Here’s a write up on a $30 fix if it came back:

Bump, throw me some offers, I would like to let this go in the next few days.

Is this like a bad time to sell with the holidays? Jeez, I’ve never had a Honda not sell in less than a week, ever…

I don’t know what type of offers you have been getting, but I think for a car with 220k, a CEL, and possibly needing a clutch down the line might be one too many cons to justify a $2100 purchase. If you’re patient, then sure you will find a buyer. Yeah it’s a Honda, the CEL is a cheap fix if you DIY, and the clutch is still grabbing fine now, but there may be better deals to be had out there for the same price. You might be better off fixing it up and raising the price to find a buyer that is confident they are getting a good vehicle that will be set for them for a long time to come.

Read the update, there is no more CEL. The brakes are all brand new, the clutch is something most people would not even tell potential buyers. It doesn’t NEED a clutch now. I’m just being 100% honest. Maybe too honest…

Ah shit I knew you cleared it. I then completely forgot that fact after reading up on the simple fix you linked. Your honesty is definitely appreciative on a forum like this, which is why so many people can vouch for you. If you have it up on craigslist though, you could probably forgo the clutch details to get some bites.

Yea, I don’t know, I just like disclosing everything I know (which is obviously more than the average consumer), and feel better making sure they know what they are getting. Oh well, I really think it’s because of the time of year…holiday spending going on…

In any event, if interested, make me an offer…I just might take it…

Last minute shopping going on, will let this go for $1,950 this week. Brand new pads/rotors on all 4 corners and no more CEL…

Ok, interior just got an entire detail yesterday, including steam cleaned carpets, seats, headliner, etc., as well as all plastics steam cleaned and conditioned…price staying at $1,950…

Well, I guess that interior detail is all it took…SOLD!
