TW: 1997 Honda Accord EX - 5-speed, needs TLC...

Hi all,

I am putting up for sale my 1997 Accord EX (Dark Green/Tan). It has 220K on it, and it runs and drives terrific. There is very little rust, considering the year/miles. Engine runs great, trans. shifts great, interior is all there, and the car is completely 100% stock from the day it was built, right down to the radio. Also, BRAND NEW brakes! These are the great things about the car.

There are 2 things worth noting on the car It has a CEL for emissions and the clutch slips at high revs/load. It has been slipping at high revs/heavy load for ~2 years, so clearly, it runs and drives fine still, but I am disclosing everything I know. I bought a BRAND NEW clutch kit, which will go with the car to the new owner. As to be expected by it’s age, there are some dings/dents/scratches on the body, consistent with it’s age, and the interior needs a good cleaning. Again, full disclosure.

The KBB in GOOD shape is 2,668 and FAIR is 2,093. I’d say this car is somewhere in between. AS-IS, for NYSpeed, I’ll let it go for $2,100. If you want me to do the clutch, $2,400. Considering these Accords routinely sell for about 3-4 grand (if you can find one), this is a very good deal, esp. if you’re willing to do the clutch yourself. This car will then be 100% mechanically solid. I’m clearly letting this car go for a reasonable amount, in the appreciation of my schedule and lack of time. Plus, including this car, I now own 6 cars at the moment…I do not need it anymore…

However, you can all save your 300 dollar offers for the birds. I will not respond to your PM’s or posts if you heave those my way. I will however tell you to go fuck yourself in my head, as to at least ack. you on some level. I’m a fair and honest seller with nothing to hide. I will show you the car on my lift if you want. You can ask anyone I’ve sold cars to around here. Very straight forward. But I will not entertain dickbag offers. It’s a damn good car for a fair price, and I’m disclosing things at a level most sellers never would…

If you’re really interested, get a hold of me, and I’ll show your the car. It looks exactly as described. See for yourself in the following photos.

Thanks,

Joe

Bump for a good guy. I have seen his cars and not only are they the cleanest I know, but they are legit.
GLWS

Not interested in the car but just for any potential buyers, I’d assume this is a 4 cylinder?

how are the front brakes?

Hockey, yes it’s a 2.2 VTEC 4 cyl. The V6’s were all auto.

Dan, not sure if you’re joking or not based on the other thread, but it needs brakes, which I am willing to do based on sale price.

I didn’t see it posted, maybe I missed it, is it coupe or sedan?

Yes buddy, no worries, I just wanted to make you

SEDAN!!!

Afternoon bump.

Do you know what exactly the code is that it is throwing?

Right now, I don’t remember the code, no. If I remember correctly, it was an evap. code I think…not sure, it’s been a while…

I drove it last night for the first time in a long time, and realized I was a bit overzealous when I bought the clutch kit a couple years back…it didn’t slip at all when I drove the car last night, further reinforcing that it is completely driveable still…but again, free clutch kit with the car to the new owner, or I can do it for the new owner…

Also it looks like I’m just going to do the brakes and start a massive clean-up and detail of the car, which will result in the price rising…unless someone snags it first…convince me otherwise…

I applaud you for doing the brakes yourself, I did a friend’s brakes on his 95 accord EX and hated life because of the Hub-over-rotor deal…

Ok all, photos now posted…forgot to mention, tires are practically like new…

I hated doing the brakes on mine… looks like a solid car tho… bump!

Bump, going out of town for a few days…

Ok, back in town. I will do the brakes this week, and keep the car priced at 2100. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Burn or leak any oil?
Any interest at all in any sort of trades?
Would you be willing to do the clutch and find out more about the CEL?

I’m looking for a 4dr to replace my Civic Hx, 100% mechanically sound, turn key ready to roll.

You got PM, Bakes…

Legit seller here as i’m sure everyone knows by now. GLWS man.
