USB flash drive question.

I’m prolly just an idiot but Im having trouble with my new USB drive.

Kingston data traveler 1. 16gb.

My computer recognizes the drive but I am unable to find the drive in my computer and I cant put any files onto it.

I am using windows XP with service pack 1.

I have re labeled all partitions (except c: ) and also relabeled the USB drive to drive q using windows.

The drive is formatted using fat32.

When I plug the drive into a 3 year old desktop everything works fine. My laptop is about 5 years old.

The Kingston troubleshoot is no help. Should I flash the BIOS?

Why no SP3? Just wondering? P&P should recognize it though.

Upgrade to SP2 and see what happens.

Sounds like it is trying to use a drive letter that is already in use.

Right Click on “My Computer” and left click “Manage” to open up Computer Management.

Select “Disk Management” on the left to populate the area on the right with all of your disk drive information.

Look for something labeled “Disk #” that has 16GB of space and probably no drive letter. Right click and select “Change Drive Letter or Paths…” and choose {P:} or any other letter you aren’t using already.
