anyone locally sell v-band kit stuff? looking for 3 inch , just checking before i have to resort to ebay. Anyone have any bad experience with v band, are some of them cheap? clamps stripping out or coming loose? Leak? While im tossing this stage 4 clutch i gotta do away with that exhaust that was on there, last minute cob job scrapin the ground n shit… doin 3 inch v band w/ flex bellow and electric cutout, moving the muffler to the back should be pretty sweet . cool story bra!
Synapse sells good quality ones.
I usually buy mine through www.ATPturbo.com ,very good selection!!
Yeah, I just got a few flanges & clamps through ATPturbo.com.
ebay has the same pic of the v band kit, atp wants 40 plus shipping for one and ebay has a kit of 2 for $53 free shipping. Is shipping expensive from atp? i might order a 3" SS U bend from them.
Be forwarned that there are the full stainless kits, and the typical ones sold by ATP which are stainless clamps with MS flanges. Nothing bad with them at all just be aware if you’re looking for full stainless. ATP does sell stainless flanges, but it’s cheaper to buy elsewhere as a complete kit.
Synapse will have them locally, although I have no idea what type they are. I never stock those parts so I can’t help you in this case.
I just go through ATP because theres no BS, and you know what ur getting.
You get what you pay for I guess.
this is what i saw on ebay for 53 bucks,
notice it has ALUMINUM flanges not steel…
nice catch man i didnt read the fine print all, i saw the STAINLESS STEEL in giant letters. WTF am i going to do with aluminum flanges make a fucking cock ring?
thanks for the info!
this one says SS , hopefully they’re not just talking about the clamp this time.
for that price likely no. a true full stainless vband kit will run you around $60-$70 in 304 flanges minimum(good stuff, not cheapo junk), 321 will be about $170, 625 are around $300…average 3" price
thanks, good to know, as long as its not aluminum im happy.
I got stainless from ATP. Shipping was extremely fast .
Aluminum ones are usually for IC piping. and have stainless clamps for strength so you dont strip soft alum. when you crank them down, and so they dont seize up if they get coated in water, and salt.
Yep, ATP is where it at. I also ordered some flanges from Vibrant I think it is and they were great quality pieces too.
But if your in a rush call Synapse.
off topic but look close at both integra engines in the pic of the address Mike posted, you guys see somthing wrong with this lol.
both motors are backwards… looks like a mirror attempt gone bad
synapse uses mild steel flanges on basically everything. the problem with stainless flanges and vband rings is when welded they have a habit of warping pretty badly. if your dead set on using stainless i would tack the flanges on, clamp them tight with the vband clamp, and then weld them. and dont weld in one big circle. weld short sections on opposing sides of the pipe.
Adam, Hank, anyone can you back this up? I usually tack it on with about 4-6 spaced out 1/4" tacks to seat it and hold it on the pipe where I want it, then go to town. Tig on about 60amps or so for depending on the tubing dia… filler rod welds, not fusion. I have yet to warp a v-band or a normal 3-4 bolt flange either. I also go slow and only do a few inches at a time becasue I dont have 3 hands. lol
basically what i described would be somewhat over cautious as to not warp the flange. but still welding around the pipe in a complete circle with stainless flanges is not a good idea. ive seen even mild steel steel flanges warp from that. As long as your evenly spaced tacks are strong enough, they wont break, but keep in mind tacks will break when welding if they are too weak. metal moves quite a bit when welded so take the proper precautions to keep your pieces from moving.
