VW guys, talk to me about the VR6...

buy a kouki S14 with a good SR20 in it and STFU… not trying to sell you mine either…

buying a 13 year old FWD Volkswagen sedan with a VR6 (swapped?) from The Fail sounds like a terrible idea to me when you can buy something like i suggested that will be forever more reliable and get way skankier chicks. You also won’t need to fake a roof rack or wear skinny jeans… unless you’re as bonkers as Jlee.

JDM girls > EDM girls > USDM girls > Anyone who drives a French car.

This is a VR6. Your argument is invalid. At 87k I doubt that the timing chain tensioners have been done, and shit for $3k don’t do them. Just drive it till she breaks. Might be 200k anyway.

Why do you think it was swapped?

Bottom line is any clean DD with under 100k for $3k is a good deal. This one WILL be an attention whore like any VW, but if you’re cool with having to fix little things all the time then it would be a pretty comfy and fun DD for cheap.

Deeewwww it!

just assuming… i don’t remember is VR6’s came in jetta’s in 1998 but i think i have my decades mixed up… also, VW’s suck and are not worth paying attention to. Except for TDI’s for daily drivers to save on gas.

Jetta GLX = Factory VR6

Do it.

I like cookies.

Dan

sounds like a decent buy…

BUT…

if you want something a little newer quattrokrant has a 99.5 vr6 jetta with 60k miles for $5.5k

Yeah Jam told me about that. Time will tell.

FWIW it really looks like a solid buy.

I owned my MK3 VR6 for 3 years and never had aproblem with it, even modded.

I did buy it new though… LOL

X…

ive had 4 Vr’s and 1 2.0. the mk3 is a awsome car with the correct componets they handle awsome and are quick and super fun stock.

Well I bought it, I’ll be flying to florida in a few weeks to drive it back. Only problem at this point is that it comes with nice new SUMMER tires on it, and I have to drive it home lol… I have a friend with 4 snows mounted on steelies and he offered to lend them to me so i could UPS them to the dealer down there and have them mounted… Any other ideas? I haven’t talked to the dealer about it yet so they may have a suggestion too.

just drive slow and youll be fine on the summers.

Yeah that was my second thought. Hopefully there isn’t a blizzard in the next three weeks that coats I-95 all the way up haha

i drove my 911 cross country on summers in the first week of march last year and my a4 on summers during a snow storm last month. yeah i know they are both awd but still if you take it slow you will be fine.

Yeah I went from a subaru to an a4 quattro to this… so i’m going to lose my AWD comfort zone. Meh, I have AAA and collision, what’s the worst that could happen AMIRITE?

do it.

do it.

You’ll be fine. Vrs are pretty front heavy and handle well in the snow even on summer tires

Dude, pm me your number I lost it, I want to check this thing out!

Yeah i’ve heard that they are beastly in the snow from a few people now. good to know.
I got a new number and i don’t think i ever gave it to you, so you have a pm.

So the dealer contacted me after I paid the 500 bones deposit asking if i could get him the funds some other way other than paypal since it charges him 3% or something…seems kinda cheap-ish but i guess that shit would piss me off too. I personally would like to just take cash with me and pay in person, but it’s going to be 3 weeks or so before i get down there and I’d like to get the title here before then so i can get it all registered and shit before i go down…
Are bank transfers safe these days? Other options?
