Copied from VWVortex.com. Haters please keep to yourselves, i never bash anyone’s threads on here. Alot of people have been in this car, know’s how it handles/rides/pulls. Found the bike i want to get, this has to move out. my loss is your gain.
Before i get a hundred PM’s read the entire thread before messaging me please. I explained every angle of the sale in this post that i could think of. Thanks!
Many of you know/seen this car before, and can put a good word or two in
Im going to be 100% honest with everything and anything, i want whoever the future owner is to know what theyre getting. With that said…
Here’s a brief history of what its been through in the last year or so…
I purchased this car from Hockdub in August '05. The car came from Colorado and was shipped to Buffalo, NY. I paid 6k for it, which means nothing at this point, because it is a very different car since then. Im going to take a huge hit on this, but im looking to go in another direction for future projects/bikes. I’ve had my enjoyment out of it, and so will the next owner.
The previous owner did the original swap back in the spring of last year at a local shop in Denver, and im sure he will chime in with more details later in the thread. With the purchase i recieved a binder FULL of reciepts from items on the car. Also i recieved a CD with about 350 pictures of the swap progress and transformation it went through.
My story with it is as follows. In late September, I spun a rod bearing in the bottom end of the vr6. So the surgery began. I stored it for the winter season, and grabbed a 93 corrado bottom end off of a local friend. Solid compression across the board in the donor motor, as it had 83xxx miles on her. I swapped bottom ends, and in doing so i did a brand new OEM headgasket, head studs, timing chains, every gasket, thermostat housing, hoses, plugs/wires, so on and so forth. The amount of money i put into the car over the winter sickens me, but my loss is your gain. A new bike and project is coming in, and i need her out.
The ABT 22’s were sold, so they will not be coming with the car, but some of my finer pictures are with them, so ill post a few of them up. I have 16v passat oem wheels with 50% azenis (205/50/15) on them. I plan on having these wheels powdercoated this weekend at my workplace. I can hold off or do whatever color/shade granted. I can do them whenever
The paint is in fair condition. There is its fair share of chips/nicks on the body, in no way is the paint perfect, but at the same time it still shines very nice after a fresh wash/wax. Buff out most of the panels and have a very fresh looking car. No surface rust or anything like that, underbody is very solid, no holes or falling rust pieces like your average mk2
The only thing that i can think of as far as needing is a windshield seal and a trunk seal. Other than that its ready to go. Also the mono wiper linkage cracked, ill keep you updated on whether it is fixed or not. The mileage on the body is unknown to me, i believe it was about 120k, Hockdub would have a better idea.
List of parts that i quickly went over in the garage…

Currently im on a friend’s steelies that im going to return, but i just purchased 16v passat 15" wheels as stated above with 205/50/15 azenis tires (50%). They are being powdercoated this weekend gunmetal. ABT’s are NOT on the car anymore, they were just recently sold to a guy in NYC. I know someone who can get a set of these though if you’re interested.
On with the pictures. Some new, some old, some from today, some from a year ago.

More pictures will be up shortly, i have a photographer doing a shoot on the car Thursday.
I am asking $5400 for it with the 16v passat wheels. If you have wheels and would like it for a couple hundred less, thats fine. After the rebuild it runs great, starts right up, doesn’t leak any fluids from what i can tell. The rebuild has less than TEN miles on her. I just wanted to finish the build and move on. Its done and complete, now its somebody else turn to enjoy it
