What do you guys think about shaved door handles and electric poppers? I’m considering putting them on my car.
i like them. there pretty cool. but you can’t use the car at the track then.
I kinda like them, cause they’re just one more thing to make people think “What the…” about your car. lol
i love the “WHA THA?!” :eyes factor of cars
but not the " :wtf: " factor of ricey cars
I like stuff like that just cause it confuses people hee hee.
hmmm never thought about that…
If its a daily driver then no, if its a show car then for sure.
no dont even think about it
they started using a new salt on the roads and it has done something to my locks. in all my years of driving, i’ve never experienced this. it feels like sand in the locks. i tried wd-40, compressed air, and graphite lube, but it still doesn’t seem to help.
for that reason, i’ve decided to convert to shaved handles and door poppers. i don’t want to deal with frozen locks and crusty cylinders all the time.
Well I shaved the handles on my 240 aout 4 years ago now. It looks awesome, especially when everything else is shaved like it is. When I bought my car, the handles were broken and the keys didnt work. I was young and stupid so I thought it was a better idea just to shave them.
I have heard you can’t take a shaved handled car to Bud Park, but I have never tried.
My car is a daily driver and there are really no problems. The only thing that sucks is when the door fuse blows or the battery dies. You will look like an ass when you have to crawl thru your hatch to get in.
It also gives you some added security I think. You have to break the glass to get in. The poppers do wear out over time, but mine don’t show any signs of that yet.
The bad things. You can’t drive the car in the winter if you wanted to. The snow and ice build up is enough to make it a royal pain in the ass to open the door. It only happened to me once, as I put my car away early. But you would never be able to go through a cold, snowy winter month with the poppers. Just something to consider.
If you do it, get it done right. Now after 4 years I am getting a few little signs of where the handles used to be. But it was seamless when it was first done.
IMHO, this isn’t a security feature, it’s an excuse for them to break your window. I had both my 240’s broken into, and both times it required zero money to fix (glass was fine, lock was fine) because these cars are so easy to get into.
I love the look though… very clean.
Especially on a black car like Dave’s :anal

Good call Mike. I just like thinking its a security feature. It makes me seem like less of a ricer.
I don’t think they look bad, as long as the rest of the car is clean and shaven. However if you get in an accident… Well… :anal
these cars are so easy to get into.
ya no doubt. my buddy broke my only key so for about a month the only way i got in and out of my car was with a coat hanger. and if your wondering how could i start my car… well my ignition switch and stearing lock was broke and i could start it with a flat head screwdriver.
never thaught about it. Look not bad but its somthing I wouldnt do personally. I like the function of them and poppers are a bitch and freeze up and there is such thing as too smooth.
IMHO, its rice.
yeah I decided against it for the fact that my car won’t be allowed on track. So I’m not gonna, it’d be different however if I just wanted a show car, but wheres the fun in that?
I think you should spend your money on getting rid off that F16 wing on the back first.
that wing + shaved door handles ? might as well join 780tuners
Hate shaved handles, plus most insurance companies (or at least a few i have heard of) wont let you install them or wont insure them if they are installed because it is a safety risk to those who would ahve to rescue you in an event of an accident
But they look gay
Wing is off and am going to be fixing holes right away. But I will be putting something back on because I think the trunk looks way too boring with nothing on.
