srsly fry?
Well, in Joe’s case maybe don’t by the financial-masterbatory 10k watch and put that money into the down payment on the house. I’m not talking about major sacrifices.
figured we couldn’t rent anymore because most landlords didn’t like how many cars we had. decided the cost of renting a place that could house 4 cars, or rent storage for 2 of the cars away from where i was living was comparable to a starter house mortgage + taxes. also realized we didn’t know exactly where we wanted to live, and what our true requirements for a house were, so we found a place that had a 3.5 car garage half way between where each of us worked, that we could afford to make 6 extra payment a year on. 5-7 years after buying, we may find what we want to move into, and it may not be in upstate NY.
Well I didn’t exactly do it like that, but yeah I bit off a bit more than I could chew at the time. “Well things will be tight for 2 years, but when the wife is done with college we’ll have 2 incomes and all will be well.” Proceed to spend as usual… :picard: Ah well, it wasn’t way too much. Just enough to have me puckering when CC bills came for about a year.
well its understandable based on what you were doing in shool & such… i was just wondering how you came up with the arbitrary figure of 1.3… lol
House Sale Price / (My salary at the time x 2) = 1.3
I DIDN’T USE 1.3 AS A FACTOR! I AM AMERICAN. I FOUND THE HOUSE I WANTED THAT WAS NEAR WHAT I THOUGHT I COULD AFFORD AND FOUND A WAY TO JUSTIFY SPENDING MORE THAN I PLANNED ON. IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT IT WORKED OUT TO 1.3 TIMES DOUBLE MY INCOME.
lol
I’m looked at how much we’re paying rent right now + the extra $ every month and how much we will have in our savings account in June 2009.
So I already know I’m buying the $320,000 condo across the street…had to make sure we could afford it, checked out the place and i’m sold on it.
glad I wasn’t the only one.
If it’s within reason it’s not a big deal. When Jen and I came up with our budget we had an idea of what we wanted to spend. We went a little over as well and just ate into the savings/safety chunk of the budget a little bit to make up for it. I was kicking ass on a huge project at work and was willing to take the bet that my raise would more than cover the difference, which it did. Had it not though we wouldn’t be fighting to make the payments, just not putting as much into savings as we would like.
I agree with all of that… but I aws under the impression that Fry & Mrs Not-Fry said “You know what we can afford? (Salary x 2)x 1.3. Yea, that sounds good.”
lol oh no. We didn’t put nearly that much thought into it. It was more “ooh, this one’s pretty. Close Enough!”
We just designed the house we wanted and built it.
A lot has happened in the 3 years of this project, it may be up for sale soon.:biglaugh:
Would you off yourself if some Chinese guy bought it? Oh I shouldn’t joke…
I layed my wife down on our bed butt naked, then i covered her in hundreds. After jerking off on her i had her stand up, whatever stuck was what i could afford.
Havent been late on any payments yet !!!
hi… i just doubled my income and then multiplied by 1.3…
or in other words, and much simpler, i multiplied my income by 2.6.
or wait…
how about your multiply your income by 26, then divide it by 10… then take away 1, then add 1 + your income… then take away your annual income… should equal the same thing.
or no…
how about you annual income = X
(X/X) x (2600/1000) or ((X/1000) X (2600/X))
I think we should just do this:

The epitome of shitty journalism right there. Feel sorry for this single mom. Please ignore that when she was making 70k a year she somehow thought a 2500/month INTEREST ONLY mortgage was within her budget. That’s a 480k house on a 70k a year salary. So her formula was salary * 6.85. But yeah, we should feel bad for her having to go to a food bank. Fuck that, I feel bad for the people that should be getting food from the food bank but this fat bitch is taking it home to her 480k house.
