what wheels for the lex

IMO there are only 3 wheels for any car maybe 4

SSR’s
any of RAYS, i.e volk etc
BBS mostly german tho

and kosei for the budget minded

that wheel max crap is exactly that, crap

black wheels look like shit IMO. Replicas in a 18x9 are 4-5 lbs heavier per wheel then Forged offerings like Volk or SSR. Most wheels that people put on imports are smaller the 18X9 so the difference will be LESS. A wheel is a wheel. If it rolls, is light enough and has a quality finish then there is little difference between a Volk and a “replica”. Now lets spend $2600 vs $1000 so we can tell all the tools on here that we have a VOLK logo on the wheel. WOW! ( turns around and quickly rubs one out)

word i love the stock IS wheels…i woudl put them on the maxima

BBS, iforged or fikse, end of discussion

Yup

or stock

yea im not gona spend tha tmuch money on a set of wheels, that i drive daily .not in the street’s of buffalo. cmon now. get common sense. i would bend one with in month’s.

brilliant… uncoated polished aluminum on a daily driver … in Buffalo no less

if he pays over 100 for a hair cut… he can afford it

First of all just because someone says that he came from mars doesnt mean its true. Second I wont go into. Third bad advice is bad advice any way you slice it. The maintenance on uncoated aluminum wheels ( to keep them looking good) is ridiculous. They are NOT for a daily driver. They will turn to shit in 3 months.
Bad advice… the end

Do you have actual facts to back that up? The difference between the weight of any of the lightweight wheels compared to the knock-offs? Because every one that I’ve compared has had more like a 10lb difference.

If the buyer doesn’t care about rotating mass on his hubs, then I guess a wheel is a wheel.

Who says they only come uncoated? As a matter of fact, what wheel manufacturer in their right mind would release a polished wheel to the American public with no coating, when most people can’t even keep on top of changing the oil in their cars? At least as far as low cost applications. If you are going to buy Fikse, you probably are going to take care of teh wheel and spend the time necessary regardless, right?

At any rate, I’ve had un-coated polished aluminum wheels for over 5 years, and upkeep was not a hassle at all. The wheels still look good.

SOOO hot.

i agree totally with somethin like this !!!
if your gonna pic something like the 2 that u narrowed it to…save your money and stay stock!!

those are some of the strongest wheels around…

And violater… you can get a ton of different coatings.

Jeller had kinesis wheels (on the same level as the others) and he didnt have any problems that I know of, other than having to polish the uncoated lip sometimes.

Most offerings from Fiske come uncoated. Race Black or Race Satin are upgrades that offer some protection but you lose some of the luster. Im not a 100% certian but I believe all iforged wheels are uncoated except the black and color finishes…

I have researched wheels up the ahole and beyond. I have had 4 different types over 2 years. The weights are no where close to a 10lb difference. The differences become more significant when the wheels get very wide…say 11 - 13. I also weighed all my wheels with a hanging scale when I got them and compared to other offerings.
People blow the entire rotating mass of upscale brands vs generics way out of proportion. I actually took the time to research. I was going to buy WEDS or WORK wheels but after considering all the facts they were not worth it for a daily driver.
I would rather replace my wheels with a brand new and fresh set every year then be stuck with a damages $$$$ wheel because I dont want to spend $900 to replace it.
Wheels get worn and damaged. Anyone that says otherwise is clueless. For a daily driver, replacement costs should be high on the priority list.

If you have a sunday driver… no problem. Daily driver… not a smart choice.

RX3. I dont know how often you drive your car or what you consider to be acceptable upkeep but I have done enough aluminum polishing to say, with confidence, that uncoated wheels are a huge pain in the ass on a frequently driven car.

The factory finish will never last or look good (compared to new) on a daily driven car unless you are on your hands and knees every week with aluminum polish and a cloth.

other than having to polish the uncoated lip sometimes.[/QUOTE]
uh… as far as i know all the time…

my old Z wheels were un coated…i stirpped the coating myself…they were a pain in the ass to keep looking good…i am talking atleast once a month for summer driving only…and thats only for decent looking wheels…

What is in the “colored” wheels that protects better? Is it just the paint they use adding more protection?

I thought about how much I use my car as a daily driver. Maybe I don’t use it as much as I used to. I did some calculations, and I actually put more miles on my motorcycle in the past two years than my car. Maybe my car isn’t really a daily driver anymore.

I don’t know if they blow it out of proportion. I know in my case, I knew how much my stock brakes and stock wheels weighed. I have a big brake kit, and it weighs x pounds, so I tried to find the lightest wheel possible so that the total of the sum was worst case scenario equal to stock. With my particular car, there is enough powerloss through the driveline that I wanted to minimize any more of it with excess weight on the hubs.

Like I said before, if you aren’t going to race it, then I can agree, a wheel is a wheel. Especially if you’re just going for looks.

I’m pretty sure that this entire thread is about looks.

yea, you dont buy an is300 to race :stuck_out_tongue:

i would cause its faster than my maxima…prolly

You can get them however you want, most of them are powdercoated very well, lips are pretty strong, never bent one, some of the lips may be clearcoated also, but remember they are for summer not all year anyways.

One recommendation: If its a daily, get an even set, not a staggered set, it sucks not being able to rotate the wheels, tires wear like shit and last half as long as they could IMHO.

whats the budget? Really? and then lets go from there… instead of guessing our asses off about whats good and whats not.
