I have a set of used latches off a car with 65kmi in good shape if your interested, $100 shipped
Again, I will keep this in mind. I was thinking of getting New if I do get any at all so I know the quality right from the start. But after doing a little research and instead of using spacers, I’m going to give this a try. http://www.shoplet.com/Ag-Industries-4-Silicone-Tubing/FHAG615730/spdv (Slide a silicone tube over the hooks) That should tighten it up and allow me to replace the tube if it gets warn out.
new tops are so taunt that it takes 2 grown men using their full force to latch them for the first time. I doubt you will even need new latches with a brand new top
wind noise is ridiculous. I don’t need to keep the top from chattering, I need a better seal between the roof and the rubber unfortunately. The tubes added would give me just that tighter of a seal.
Edit: Will I need a new cables for the top or are the old ones usually fine?
Any thoughts on the Cable part? Has anyone replaced a top and if so, did they replace the cables as well?
So I took my car to ATM in Hamburg. I called to Moser’s for a last time to setup having my roof installed. While talking with the guy that runs the place, he said he’d be busy for some time because he is alone and about to start a project. When he said he was alone I decided to walk away and take a look at ATM. I definitely am happy I did, it required 4 people to close the top the first time from what I was told. (Why I did not bother attempting to install it myself)
ATM is a great place. I called about a week before taking the car and had no problems scheduling with them. I got my car out of storage 2 weeks ago Saturday, the battery was dead. We jumped the car and drove it to ATM which was about a 1/2 hour or more away. Thinking it may recharge the battery on the way I did not stop to pick one up. Not a chance, it was toast. I’d have stopped to get one but I was going on Vacation for a week.
ATM was great, they said they’d keep the car there for the week as well as try to charge the battery. They said every night the car would be in the shop so no theft could happen. During the day the car may be pulled out for room to work. I came back on Sunday and went yesterday to pick up my car. I found out it was an 8hr job (what I was expecting) and as stated, it took 4 people to close the top the first time. They told me before I came that the battery did not charge so I picked one up on the way.
The top looks great (Robbins top) and it’s nice to be able to see out the back window again as I now have the glass upgrade. If you need any work done I would highly recommend them as they take care of your vehicle while in their possession and do a great job. They are also a great group of friendly people.
