Loeb was the same when he started. Killer on tarmac, needed to figure out the other stuff. Once he did, game over. :eekdance:
If he figures it out quickly, maybe he’ll be put on the factory Citroen team next year when Citroen returns to WRC.

you guys are KILLING me. some of my best memories of college was us watching rally on a 104" projector/screen in our basement at full blast back when they were on Speed
I have a feeling he will end up the #2 driver next year, as he has finished better than Pons pretty much all year. Also worth noting is that Sordo’s co-driver was previously Carlos Saintz’ co-driver. That’s alot of winning experience riding in the passenger seat…
What the hell was Danny Sordo thinking?
I dunno, but he been messing up quite a bit in the last few rallies. Seems like his co-driver has been getting frustrated with him, too, you could hear it after he rolled in Cyprus.
Maybe he was so fatigued and began to drive his car like it was in tarmac mode?
In any even, “messing up” doesn’t quite begin to describe crashing out on an uncompetitive special stage, going balls out into a tight left hander, with spectators directly in front of Sordo.
btw. Watching Loeb navigate those streets…the only thing that can be said is that he’s on a whole 'nother level.
Yeah, that falls more into the “WTF was he thinking” category. Somebody could have been killed, and I’m sure that photographer got the shot of a lifetime, as well as needing a change of pants after that one.
Defintely WTF. Just finished watching Day 3 for Cypers today. If Sordo keeps making mental errors like that, they are liable to pull that factory ride right out from under him for next year.
Just downloaded WRC Turkey, I have all the episodes. Interesting developments mentioned in the Preview episode. Going to watch the stages later tonight/tomorrow.
Rally Australia was two weekends ago, anybody else watch it yet? Quite a bit of carnage, and some unexpected outcomes.
Now the question is, since Loeb has officially clinched the driver’s championship, will we see the new Citroen C4 come out for the last couple events? They mentioned that it could happen during the Rally Turkey preview. I’m thinking they won’t have it out for New Zealand, but I’d bet that they will bring it out to Wales.
I think they’ll bring it out to the finale to test.
Loeb is the man, I just saw some clips, wow.
Grondholm has to be kicking himself. HE has no one to blame but himself for letting Loeb win the championship.
This is especially true since he threw away two events where he was leading by a simple driving mistake. OTOH, it really looks like Ford will take the manufacturer’s championship as Hirvonen has been on fire as of late.
Well, this weekend is Rally GB. The manufacturer’s title is wrapped up, as is the driver’s title.
Only things remain to be seen in 2006 are: Will Loeb return for the final event of the season, and will the C4 make its debut?
As for 2007, I wouldn’t expect any changes from the Ford camp, given their success with Gronholm and Hirvonen.
I could see some changes coming for Citroen, though. Who will be the #2 driver? Pons has been inconsistent, as has Sordo, though Sordo seemed to be the better of the two if he kept out of trouble.
Then you have Manfred Stohl, who did really well in 2006 for OMV Peugeot. Could a factory ride be in his future?
Will we see the return of Gigi Galli, Toni Gardemeister, and most interestingly, Valentino Rossi to a full season?
I can tell you right now that Valentino Rossi will not be running a full season of Rally next year. At best, it will be another one-off showing in the (moto GP)off season. Moto GP testing of the new 800cc bikes is underway, and The Doctor will be in the lab until further notice.
The new Suzuki will be coming on board, Mitsu will be back, as well as Citroen. So there are a few open seats. I’m a big Gigi Gali fan, I want to see him smack up more co-drivers  . If Suzuki was smart, they’d grab Crash McRae, and once the factory Citroen team figures out their #2 driver, the team Loeb was driving for last year will have 2 open driver seats. They are a pretty strong team, so we’ll see who they snap up.
I should probably finish watching Day 3 of New Zealand.
Finally watched GB Rally. No Citroen C4 sightings, other than the blurb in the preview show that showed them testing. The Suzuki Rally car looks pretty sweet!
