Hey guys. Since I can’t find a decent 240sx shell, I’m gonna go old school. Always wanted a Datsun 240Z. Let me know if you’ve got any for sale or know of any. Will settle for a 260 or 280 as well. Key thing I’m looking for is a clean, or close to it, body and frame. Paint is no prob, but rust is unless it’s just minor surface.

I think it’s harder to find a 280zx than a 240sx let alone one w/ only surface rust… there are mint 240sx… just selling for 4k… +

I’ve got the most recent triad, and have the last 2 buy and sells, and dont see them anywhere.
Nissan (and everybody) has been using much thinner sheet metal since the old days. I think, everything considered, it might actually be easier to find an older one with less significant rust then an SX.

yeah good luck with that one!! ive helped my buddy with 3 Datsun’s theres a lot of work involved in them, from changing out the floors to new rocker panels, most of the things you wouldnt have to do with an S13…
If you consider spending more than $500 on a 240sx its not hard to find a good one ! problem is you people are looking for the impossible! an amazing 240sx for next to nothing…good luck
My first car way back when was a 1980 280zx turbo. It’s body was in pretty decent shape, just very minor surface rust. But once it was on jack stands, look out. It was almost unsafe to hoist it up. I ended up replacing the floor pans and reinforced frame rails were also added.
Just like anything, check out underneath the car, even if the body looks tight. Good luck!
I picked up a 280zx last week, probably not in the shape that you’d be willing to brave, but still. the floors are fine, the frame had a small hole which has been repaired by a friend. its currently in restoration, im half done. it needs paint then it’ll be mint again. motor is perfect.
they are rare tho, i’ve never seen one in autotrader or anythying. check ontario z club’s website, google it. they have free classifides. i found this one through a friend who saw it for sale in a driveway

I know Todd, and that silver 240Z very well. I’m on those sites all the time looking for one.
What’s best about the 240z but particularly the 260-280z’s is that they are light and their chassis can handle modifications, ie chevy engine swap. Very popuar these days.
The engine bay is just the perfect size to house a V8 and look stock!
I’m currently underway with my 280Z 2+2 restoration and V8 swap.
Because they are so light, they fly with the engine transplant!
my datsun is now up for sale if you want it.
