Description:

I’m looking for an old 70’s style stereo with am/fm reciever. It doesn’t have to be high power just high quality as I want to match it to a set of B&O speakers for my living room. It will be used as a bookshelf system so I can listen to the radio upstairs.

PM me or post what you have, I’ll drive out and see what you have but if your further then 100km away, it’d be nice to have pictures taken.

Added: I’d be interested in a set of good speakers. Nothing like what your grandma has, but old audiophile full range speakers.

I might still have an old Marantz kickin around. According to my Dad it was worth quite a bit in the 70’s when he bought it.
You must be going for a retro look, you can buy a better quality amp for probably $100
Anyway, im about 2 hours North of Toronto Area.
If your interested I will send pics.
I will have to test it; there may only be a chanel working.

Yep, the retro look is what i’m going for.

I love the walnut cabinets, hopefully you dad purchased the cabinet as well.

i will outbid richard on any Mcintosh audio…lol

look here: http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/

thank me later

bing, all I have to say is, stfu, bandwagon jumper.

I sold my bryston amp / pre-amp through canuckaudiomart.com

If you have a tube pre-amp and tube am/fm tuner, i’d use it with my carver but i’ll stick with the cheaper stuff.

Irregardless, canuckaudiomart.com is over priced. Bing, goto the hock shop across from the Pen Center (same plaza and pizza pizza) and they have McIntosh amps for 400-500 less.

Richard,

Natural Sound in Kitchener has a nice selection of old gear. I don’t know for sure if they have exactly what you are looking for, but I would bet they have something.

Let me know if they have anything you wan’t and I’ll have a look if it helps.

Thanks Nick, I’ll check it out.

You you have a set of floor standing speakers, name brand, vintage with a wood finish, i may be interseted.

buddy, i found some nice old Paradigm 9s on CAM for like $160.

HOCK SHOP is for homo faces.

The 9s are a great set of speakers. I grew up listening to 7s and still love them to this day.

Check out my friend Rob’s shop on Queen East called Applause, check out the baller room in the back and jerk off on some $25,000 CD players while you’re there.

I have been searching for the Energy C-7 in maple wood forever. For some reason I never pulled the trigger at Bay Bloor when they were only $999 then got discontinued.

CAM has a set of C-5s on there nice price too.

I’m still in the market for a vintage Stereo reciever.

Speaker wise, let me know what you got.

I picked up 2 sets of speakers already!

Paradigm Model 9 and Model 11

Now I need power amps, recievers, tuners, equilizers, etc.

List anything you have, it may suit my needs. I prefer vintage however will move to other high quality equipment.

where did you get those speaks?

what condition and colour?

are the cabs wood or composite.

I did get the 9’s through canuckaudiomart.com and they were a stained wood colour, not black.

The 11’s i bought off Jordan from SON, wood grain, not black.

As far as I know, most paradigms are composite, even the Model 9se

They used to be wooden cabs. mine are, but they were like 3-4 years old when i bought them, and that was 7-8 years ago.

i guess you bought the 9’s i was looking at in Hamilton and that guy who seemed to have a wrecking yard of semi-vintage gear.

Yes, that’s the guy. Gary.

He referred me to Jim who is repairing the Model 11’s I got from Jordan.

They need new foam surrounds and new tweeders.

Got any amps for sale?

home audio? nope.

i have some old skool car audio though… run it off a power supply and REALLY bump those 11’s…lol

I already have it covered with my Carver … can you say 600W RMS per channel.

you are such the consumer
