WTB- Miata or Protege 1.6l stock flywheel

Looking for a good stock flywheel from a 1.6l Miata or 2000 Protege.

PM me if you have one.

upgrade to a 1.8
(if you can)

autozone stocks them for 40 bucks after the core deposit

I have a 1.8- I’m upgrading to a 1.6 clutch.

Ordered a 1.6l Clutchnet 6 puck clutch w/ 2x pressure plate this afternoon, need a 1.6 flywheel to go with it.

Odd.

Most people ditch the 1.6 flywheel for the bigger 1.8 for more surface area.

Ah. These people you refer to are probably doing just basic intake/exhaust/header mods and find the stock 1.8l to be a cheap and effective alternative to an upgraded 1.6 clutch.

The stock 1.8 clutch won’t be enough for me, though, so looking at aftermarket clutches… The good folks at Clutchnet assure me that this six puck 1.6l-sized piece will happily handle 300ft/lbs, which is a fair bit more than I ever expect to make.

And it will have a lower moment of inertia than a comparable 1.8 clutch, and it will allow the use of a 1.6l flywheel (which is also lighter and has a lower moment of inertia).

I guess that’s all by way of saying thanks for looking out and being helpful, but I did my homework on this.

So, anyone have a 1.6l flywheel for me?

so what kind of power are you trying to hold

nope.
Talking about turboing the 1.6 miata.
1.6 clutch options are meh at best *for miatas at least
and if you are dead set on a 1.6 flywheel, go on miata forums.
People sell them a bunch when upgrading and doing part outs.
Good luck.

Can I also add I hate my 6 puck clutch and would sell you it with the flywheel and pressure plate for 150 bucks.
I need something that doesn’t act so much like a switch.

Yikes. Sorry to hear you’re not a fan of your six puck. What brand/model did you go with?

Reviews I’ve read on miataturbo.net suggest the six puck will be tolerable to me. It won’t be a daily driver.

escgt- I’m aiming for 250rwhp (maybe 225ft/lbs). Igor at Clutchnet tells me this six puck with 2x pressure plate should happily hold 300ft/lbs, so that gives me a pretty healthy buffer.

keep the 1.8 flywheel get a spec stg 3 holds 320tq $389

Um… Thanks for the suggestion, but I’ve already ordered researched and ordered my clutch.

And I just snagged a flywheel for $30 on fleabay.
