I mean… my shit was way better…
JIM knows whats good
massive tdi fail just happened.
I like!!
that was first gear infront of your shack, way too short. you obviously werent at the Adirondack nationals. ask anyone who went, the GTi does HUGE burnouts, just gotta step off the clutch in 2nd to make it worth it
Dumpy ride is dumpy
VW’s suck. check my Sig.
+1
fine i will do a better burnout asap. even with the rod knock… rod knock is the new turbo’d honda…
correction since everyone is getting cameo’s instead i guess rod knock is the new cameo…
time for a man build.
and my engine didnt spin a bearing, VW valve keeper = half-FAIL, not a clunker.
no man builds vr’s are tough shit motor will stay the same for next season…
damn your valve keepers are fail too?! I had to make sure when building my motor that I had gotten the correct PRB 02-03.5 K series valve keepers to avoid the fail Brian Crower came across with his stage 2 cams back in '05 when using '05 valve keepers. 60 miles + dropping a valve = FAIL!
I think that worked with the old board, but when we switched it seemed to stop working
sounds good. if you look in the forced induction classifieds there is usually a new set of VR rods or pistons for sale for a good price.
oem VW keepers are dual groove, they usually hold well. exhaust valves on the 1.8ts are known to break. i got extremely lucky because if a valve dropped, good bye EVERYTHING. people have even had Supertech single groover keeper failures. when it comes time to do valvetrain, Ferrera all the way, i dont care if they are 35 a valve instead of 20. its worth it to me.
I passed up a pretty good deal on Ferrera valves but didn’t know too much about them at the time. I got Supertech valves w/ Supertech valve seats and OEM PRB 02-03.5 valve keepers. Seems to be good stuff, when I was doing everything I heard a lot of good things about Supertech so I just went with them.
no man i mean i’m not taking the motor out of the car… if its blown it will stay that way… it could knock all next year i dont give a shit it will stay that way!!
supertech valve train is awesome. just some a couple 1.8t guys have had issues, now whether it was installation error or not, i dont know. but for the money, ill take Ferrera.
-install error could be a spring/retainer that isnt seated properly when the lock is installed which will cause the spring to have a terrible side load on it, eventually it could come free. my head is going to be thoroughly inspected prior to install. too much money to throw it all away from a easily avoided valve lock seating error. a built 1.8t head is in the neighborhood of 3000$ for a hydro lifter, 4-5grand for solid lifters.
yeah sounds like a brilliant plan. would you like to be my mechanic, im feeling lazy and would like to stimulate the local economy by paying someone to do things for me. what do you say?
not saying i cant do it saying i dont care… to much time and money into the car and dont have the extra cash like i used to. so unless the tramonts sell the car will stay as is…
