A fair assumption…though you may be in trouble. My little brother’s a senior Mech-E at Pitt this year (full ride, same as you) and from his descriptions of the workload, it sounds like computer knowledge becomes very important.
As to your original question, the easiest way is to record the audio using Audacity. It will record whatever sound is playing on your computer regardless of source. You can get it here.
